Uneven Tyre Wear

Hi All,

All four of my tyres (well three as one was a cheapo replacement when i bought the car) are getting to the very limits of legality, as such i'm planning a new set in about 6 weeks once my bank balance recovers from xmas....

On Monday i was fitting my new back box and i noticed from under the car that the insides of my tyres (mainly rears) and pretty much bald, def a lot worse than the outer edge.

Just wondering what advice anyone has as to what i should do before putting the new tyres on as i'm concerned that it'll scrub the new ones down on the inside quicker as well..

Cheers

Chris.

Not really that far too falkirk, would def rather go somewhere that have a good reputation even if its slightly further,

£50 ain't bad, was expecting worse,

On a 2001 car with 25k miles is this likely to make a difference to the feel of the car, this would really just be a bonus as my main concern is the uneven tyre wear.

Cheers

I had my geometry recently done on the brand new gear at Subaru/Mitsubishi Specialists Extreme Motorsport, in Whitburn, Just off Junction 4 of the M8 - they are very good and Geordie really knows his stuff. I think it is £15 for the checks and £15 per adjustment or something like that.

Well worth getting done - that and a spring kit (I have Prodrive) with rear drop links.

Deffo get your tracking/alignment done by somebody that knows what their doing, not just the local Kwik-Fit, the dealer done mine after getting the Prodrive springs fitted, the car felt weird, turned better one way than the other, found out that the camber was everywhere when I got Extreme to check, basically one wheel was maxed out neg camber and the other was slightly positive face-icon-small-mad.gif the rear wasn't much better, the car felt totally different afterwards, much more turn in grip for one.

Looking to get it booked in for Monday lunchtime cos i'm getting 4 new tyres Monday morning and i've took the day off work and it'd be good to get it done at the same time.

I'm booked in for Saturday the 11th cos their full on Tuesday after i get my tyres.... i'm sure 3 - 4 days won't make much of a difference.
