ill be attending my 1st in january and the thought of standing up in a room full of folk ive never met is a bit uncomfy to say the least. hillington or paisley suits me fine too. id prefer to meet people at my own pace and in my own time instead of being made to stand up in a room full of strangers. just my opinion face-icon-small-blush.gif

having spoken with someone more intelligent than myself about my suggestion- cancel it was a bag of shat idea

thinking of going to your 1st, 2nd, 3rd meet and having to do a "Hi, my names smashpants and i drive a sti8...." probably not the best idea.

I can now after my suggestions see the clear danger of mixing alcohol and crack cocaine on a tuesday nightface-icon-small-blush.gif

excuse me

Dare i say"I wouldn't mind an occasionally meet at my place of work but every month would be a no no."

DON'T GET ME WRONG AS EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOUS WILL GET A VERY WARM WELCOME AS IT'S A PART OF MY JOB.

I wasn't able to got to the last couple of meet because of the day it was on plus it was the run up to Christmas.

I would prefer the meet in Hillington rather than Stepps because we can all sit in one place without walls in the way.

At meets we should talk about things to do in the coming months like track days,,shows,,runs and such like rather than talking rubbish.

Callum, why comment on peoples points of view in such a manner?

You yourself know comments like this deter people from mixing, attending meets and even posting on the forum.

Happy to talk on MSN. face-icon-small-smile.gif

You've got to get away from your work sometime Peter. I wouldn't want to host a meet at my work every month.

How about everyone gets a set of ID cards handed to them at a meet with everyone's mug shot on it. And a wee blurb about themselves too perhaps.

I've got a SWRT lanyard and name tag thing I got off the forums last year. But I feel like a bit of an erse wearing it I must admit. Although I do intend to use the lanyard part itself for holding my official government ID card at my new job, if they'll let me.

ANOTHER HI JACKED THREAD placed back on topic by..................

A Scottish Scoobies Moderator coming to new software soon............................

My head hurts.....................

Does SIDC have a home for the insane that could come and pick me up?

After all the sh*t everyone posted on this thread, not one person has suggested having a meet at a normal pub

instead of a "Brewers Droop" or another venue for that matter(except Oobster...sorry)

I personally can't stand these places and would really like to meet elsewhere....

If others feel the same then i would gladly look in to other locations and get back to people

on that.

As for standing up and introducing myself to everyone, wether i know them or not,it doesn't

bother me as anyone who's met me will tell you i am rather LOUD at times.

NEWBIES:-If no-one has seen your face b4,you can't expect everyone to just run over to you

and start conversing.....life doesn't work like that,so why should the meets.....(WE,all of us have been there

at one time).

I like my Glasgow meets when i can get to them, and i'll support them in any way i can(and meets in other areas when

i can get to them)

If you don't get your feelings across at meets....what chance is there of people taking seriously what you post

in a thread on here......so let's get a big turn out at the first Glasgow meet(Newbies/Regulars/Dinosaurs)and all

play our part.

Good Luck for 2006 Billyboy

My own personal opinion is this :-

Have a different type of meet.

- A simple meet up & then a mini run somewhere

- Ten - pin bowling night

- An evening / day at the Go-Karts

- A pub meet either at Hillington , Stepps , or _______ ???

- A day out at paintball

IMO --- You have to make the meets a more interesting concept rather than every single meet being at the Brewer's Fayre and no one enjoying it !!!!!

You just have to look at the Lothians ,Central , Ayrshire , & Aberdeen venue's for some ideas !!!

Only last month the Lothians meet was held at the Deer Park Bowling Club & a few have incorporated the Go-Kart days out on Saturday / Sunday afternooons.

The Aberdeen meet this month is also a bowling outing.

The Central meet in November was a run & then a meal.

A couple of Ayrshire meets have been runs as well as the usual pub format.

FFS guys !!! .................... Get it Sorted !!!!!

Ally.

p.s. -- I also would like to see a specific DATE for the meets. This every Thursday pish doesn't suit ( I work every thursday night )!!! At least if it was an agreed date it would give some people like myself a chance to come along.

It works in Ayrshire & Lothians ........... Why not Glasgow ???

Vicki - I'm in Hamilton too (Black Classic).

I don't post too much on SIDC but always like reading what's going on and also feel it's quite a friendly place with a lot of useful help given when asked. I tend to be more involved with Type-r-scotland.

I haven't yet been to a monthly meet but that's really because I work in Edinburgh and it's difficult to get through in time. However, I would actually like to go along to one to try and get to know a few folk a bit better.

Thing is though (and this really is just an observation) I think having a meet every month is quite a tall in order. The RO's seem to get grief for not providing enough variety, or not providing a location that suits everybody all of the time, and the members get grief for not coming up with suggestions. It's a fine line to walk. Further, as Chris (Gumball) pointed out different people like different things, runs, show and shine, talking not talking etc, however, really a club is about having a different mix of people - variety being spice of life etc.

So here's a suggestion - Have the next monthly meet or the one after that, as it's probably too short a notice, as per usual at a regular pub where this particular topic is discussed, so folk can decide what they want to do about it. Personnaly, I'd be up for a rotation of regular monthly meet (pub type thing), and then the following meet being bowling / run / whatever. That way it isn't a total headache for people to constantly be organising stuff all the time.

Just a suggestion...............

I feel my comment is true, it is a load of pontification. We need to focus on changing the venue, then going somewhere else and saying "Here we are! lol yes the last meet was a bit stuffy, lol glad to meet you, etc etc etc"

I dont see how me saying its a load of pish, lets focus on the venue and take it from there, will deter people from mixing????

I suspect you are just saying that to cast me in a bad light, trying to make me look like the baddy. Your mind games dont work anymore douglas, and they never did.

I also know why you mentioned MSN, its probably because you have realised that I have blocked you, and wanted to let me know.

I have no intention of talking to you on msn, for the record.

pontification- to express ones point of view in a pompous or dogmatic manner
