Neofox Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 Hey guys just wondering if anyone had a standard re-circ dump valve for a classic lying around? Garage put on a Baileys External BOV on after the rebuild but needing a std one to try out some bits and pieces on. Cheers Ian
the squiggle Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 What model year is your car? If it is 97 - 98 then Des has one in his boot If it is 93 - 96 then Edinburgh-Chris has one spare, he was gonna give it to me but i found mine If it is 99 - 2000 then i may have one but i promised it to Kart-man Grant
Neofox Posted December 6, 2005 Author Posted December 6, 2005 Hey Grant, Its a V3 (97-98) How may one get ahold of said fellow Cheers Ian
the squiggle Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 Good question Reason i know he has one in his boot was he offered it to me last Thurs night Last post i found by him I had a hunch your car was a 97 - 98 Grant
Neofox Posted December 7, 2005 Author Posted December 7, 2005 Huge thanks goes out to Des who was very kind enough to supply me free of charge with Re-Circ dump valve. Just strengthens what this community is all about! Also i've now confirmed what i thought. I was running a Baileys Single Piston Dump Valve DV26 and was finding that coming off the throttle after creating boost the car was subject to violent deceleration as all boost was vented out. Also high speed driving 70-80mph was akward as it was liking driving on a knife-edge when just slightly coming off throttle the dump valve would half open which created a whistling noise and boost was being lost making the ride jerky. I can only pressume that a dump valve with either a harder spring or adjustable spring would be better. Also noticed alot of fuel being put into oil after only say 3000 miles. Me thinks i can live without the the "grannyscaring" whoosh until i get other aspects sorted before i dabble in VTA again. Ian
RS Grant Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 Good to hear you've sorted it out... a more expensive option such as Blitz/HKS will come with a stronger spring which should eliminate the knife edge as they tend to VTA when only on high boost/full throttle. Cheers, Grant
des_curran Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 I take it you got the valve alright ? Glad i could help out Ian, its a baileys piston valve i'm using at the moment, mine leaks boost sometimes mid range but i'm gona change it for a blitz valve anyway as i couldnt go back to the re-circ type now (i like the granny scaring whoosh to much)
Neofox Posted December 7, 2005 Author Posted December 7, 2005 Yup dump valve arrived perfectly. Thanks again. When i took the car out for a run to test i have to say i did miss the good old whoosh. I'm planning on a FMIC and Apexi next year so i`ll wait until then and get a decent dump valve and get it all properly tuned. Ian
graham_nairn Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 Ian If you were missing the whoosh that much I have a forge motorsport valve. I had the same problem to begin with. They supplied me with a harder spring to sort the problem out. I did eventually buy the HKS BOV. The offers there if you want it. Cheers Graham.
Neofox Posted December 8, 2005 Author Posted December 8, 2005 Cheers for the offer but i`m just gonna stick with the Re-Circ at the moment thx. 2006 will hopefully be a good year for me scooby
