st3ph3n Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Been offered a set but don't think they'll fit underneath my wheels if memory serves me correctly. Anyone care to enlighten me?
Gumball Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 they wont mate calipers are too big to fit under the wrx wheels
sma01 Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 are the standard wrx wheels not 17" the same as the STI ones??i thought they would have fitted.... Scott
Bing Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Nah, Chris is right - wont fit under WRX wheels They would fit under mine though.....................on second thoughts dont tempt me!
st3ph3n Posted November 16, 2005 Author Posted November 16, 2005 The STI wheels are 7.5" deep. WRX ones are only 7". I guess that means the spokes wont come out from the centre as far on the standard WRX wheels to house the larger caliper size. If memory serves me correctly it is that distance the caliper protrudes from the disc itself and not the size of the caliper length wise that limits their use on WRX wheels. Cheers for the offer anyway Scott. If I had the cash I'd have plumped for some nice wheels as well, but I cannae afford that at the moment.
fai17 Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Chris is correct on this one. STI have a slightly deeper dish on hte wheel
sma01 Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 shame they wont fit......my calipers ARE for sale, available straight away, pm me if interested.. scott
SEEVERS Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Stephen, why dont you buy the Brembos and keep them till you've got the dough for new wheels that way you're defo gonna have a set no matter what........just a thought. Del.
sma01 Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 i like your thinking del, thats a great idea.........do i have to pay you commission?? Stephen?
SEEVERS Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Do i feel a free strutbrace comin on....haha How much am i payin for that anyway....honestly Del.
sma01 Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 bargain to you mate, its only a bag of sand lol
st3ph3n Posted November 16, 2005 Author Posted November 16, 2005 Get a nice Cusco brace Del. I got one from Hypertech and it's functional and oh so pretty. You're all very bad men making me spend this sort of money on what is a perfectly functional car. Next years plans do include wheels, but only after I get the full decat + remap.
sma01 Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 no time like the present mate, go for it, you know u want to Scott
st3ph3n Posted November 16, 2005 Author Posted November 16, 2005 Cannae afford it right now. I've got a service coming up. Road Tax. Christmas. You can tempt me with the brakes Scott, and as I said if things go really well tomorrow you never know. But the rest is just out of the question until after the winter.
sma01 Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 fingers crossed things go well for you tomorrow mate, let me know how you get on(regardless of the brakes mate - good luck) scott
RS Grant Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 You'll need uprated brakes once you fit the de-cat and re-map though..... Cheers, Grant
drb5 Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 I have spacers for sale, that were used on my old RA, to help my Speedlines clear the Brembo's, if anyone's interested?! PM me if you are.
