Gumball Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 guys/gals i have been discussing with squirrel who is leading group one this coming sunday on the november run/photoshoot. the group is getting very large and will be fairly spread out if the numbers get any bigger for one group to this end....would anyone else like to lead the other half of his group (now named grp2)????? people asked before and i think if you still wanted to do it, it would be a great help. same pace as squirrel, just 15-20 mins behind, holding a pace and also people behind you. you will have a map and will be responsible for not getting them lost. clearly as seen in the may run A DECENT MAP READER IS NEEDED IF LEADING A GP
Gumball Posted November 14, 2005 Author Posted November 14, 2005 dont be shy you 49 viewers already you just need to go at the front of 11 cars and drive forward
sharon_mccall Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 This sounds easy enough, but i cannot read maps..............so i am not elligible for the job
Gumball Posted November 14, 2005 Author Posted November 14, 2005 no probs. thanks for the reply anyway. I have seen one of the maps and its really a question of "turn left onto the A... at ...." follow that to .... then turn onto the B... shouldnt be too hard to do for whoever can manage.
Johnny50 Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 I would be happy to take lead... But at the moment i'm unsure wether i'm able to make it at all. Will keep you posted.
pmacFTO Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 Nobody got an Ipaq with Sat Nav?? I always end up leading the grps at any FTO meets/convoys because they spotted my Ipaq!! lol And with newer version of Tom Tom you can plan an itinerary and specify any roads u want to avoid...or even avoid motorways altogether - great for finding new B roads u never knew existed!
zeolite Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 Oh come on! Reading maps is not that difficult. I would be happy to lead a group at a slower pace as I will have my wife with me but not at the quicker pace. (Looking like I will make it now). I know the roads pretty well too.
Gumball Posted November 14, 2005 Author Posted November 14, 2005 my moneys on Karps doing it for some reason lol
st3ph3n Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 Chris, I've got sat nav so don't mind doing it. I've never been on one of these runs before so I don't know what constitutes the right pace though. So I will volunteer, but only if someone else more qualified can't be found.
Gumball Posted November 14, 2005 Author Posted November 14, 2005 stephen Thanks mate, its quite easy, just drive as though you stole it!! im kidding. we can discuss it nearer the time but safety and fun on the day is the biggest factor. youll know yourself when you get out there what you need to do. if you lose anyone behind you slow down, if your getting a squashed up line of cars in your mirror speed up. thanks for doing it mate, ill add your name to the list I touch goats
st3ph3n Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 PM back at you Chris. I'll restate my point though - if someone with more experience of these events can offer then please by all means take the Job. Otherwise - lets kick the tyres and light the fires. I feel the need. THE NEED FOR SPEED. I'll hit the brakes and he'll fly right past. You were in a 4g inverted dive with an Evo 8 FQ400? Yes Ma'am. Sorry, got carried away there.
andy Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 You're not about to burst into You've Lost That Loving Feeling are you?
Gumball Posted November 14, 2005 Author Posted November 14, 2005 ok stephen has said that if no one else does it he will. WOULD ANYONE LIKE TO DO IT?
