clutdav Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 Howdy guys and gals, I am needing to enlist your creative help on potential XMAS pressies for the scooby this year. I was thinking to maybe spend up to £200 but I am drawing a blank - this is where your help comes in. Anyone with potential ideas please post them up. Before anyone says get defi's - yes I am looking in to that at the moment but it is a little expensive as a XMAS present to myself....... Thanks guys Dave
Gumball Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 samco hoses window tints flamer kit road angel (add £50) **** this has to be the purchas i think****
clutdav Posted November 9, 2005 Author Posted November 9, 2005 << samco hoses window tints flamer kit road angel (add £50) **** this has to be the purchas i think**** >> I like the idea of the first two, although I would be worried about tints with the police crack down at the moment. I don't think a flammer kit would work on my car as I have all the cats still in place. Road Angel - nice idea but they always look stuck on and are they not becoming totally illegal next year anyway?? Thanks for the ideas - anymore peeps out there with pearls of wisdom.......... Dave
clutdav Posted November 9, 2005 Author Posted November 9, 2005 << How about a STi strut-brace? >> Mmmm nice idea - do they actually make any difference to the handling of the car or are they just for show???? No denying they look cool though.....another one to the potential list. Ta Oobster 1. Samco Hoses 2. Window Tints 3. STi Strut Brace 4. ?????? Anymore???
Gumball Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 i think if you play the white man with the tints then your legal. just dont get them looking like snoop doggy jizzels pimp mobile the road angel- some of them are thought to be illegal come next year or the year after (if the law is passed)? By the time next year comes......you may have 12 points. using your phone is illegal as well. you see 10's of people everyday still using them. its stuck on with two small suckers. easy to rip off then. again its the old scenario like the garage door opener stuck to the grille front and rear. I use it to open the security gates at home. prove it !!??? drop links front and rear!!!!! motul oil and brake fluid change!!!
clutdav Posted November 9, 2005 Author Posted November 9, 2005 << what about a nice shiny dump valve >> The Typhoon Induction kit on my car already makes lots of sucking and wooshing noises so I think it maybe OTT with a DV aswell. Thanks for the idea though. Dave

Dave 1. Samco Hoses 2. Window Tints 3. STi Strut Brace 4. Drop Links??? 5. ???????? Please keep them coming guys..........
Rice Rocket Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 A nice set of one off grafixs ;-) Rice "Grafixsmeister" Rocket
clutdav Posted November 9, 2005 Author Posted November 9, 2005 Mmmmm good ideas........... 1. Samco Hoses 2. Window Tints 3. STi Strut Brace 4. Drop Links 5. Subtle Graphics 6. Polybushes 7. ??????? This exercise could turn out to be very expensive - oh well........... Dave
Gumball Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 as standard the droplinks which hold the suspension arms if you like and allow them to move up and down and move slightly, are plastic changing to perfoarmance ones, ie powereflex, whiteline or whatever which are metal will stiffen it up for you at the back and the front of the car giving you a firmer ride with more stability in the corners. most people use whiteline and cost about40 sheets i have powerflex which i think are better and cost 65 (rear only)
jamie_wood Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 Buy it a dump valve then treat it to a new engine in the new year when its fooked because of bore wash How about a wee carbon front splitter??
jcscoob Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 Flamer kit ( the best £60 spent for smiles per £, lol ) drop links ( very good mod for the money ) Fit these and you will be laughing all the way to the opti station !!
clutdav Posted November 9, 2005 Author Posted November 9, 2005 << How about a wee carbon front splitter?? >> A very good idea - so good infact that I got the splitter fitted last week........ Dave
oobster Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 If i had any spare cash i'd go for the droplinks for mine. Read a few articles + opinions on here.... everyone seems to say they are a good mod to make. I think st3ph3n got his droplinks changed about 6 weeks ago and raves about the difference they make. Scott Lowe front splitter is on my xmas list though

~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 A helmet and track day should do the joab and give the old girl the run she deserves CGS
st3ph3n Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 Dave - whiteline droplinks + geometery = almost criminally good. Also road angels etc. - All GPS based devices are legal and will be legal, indeed they are supported by the government as they keep people informed of blackspots etc. All detection based equipment - ie anything that can work out if a speed camera is actually live, or if radar or laser is targetting you is currently or will be illegal next year. All jamming equipment is illegal. That is all.
fai17 Posted November 10, 2005 Posted November 10, 2005 Get yourself a helmet and SIDC track time sounds good Cal
craig mac Posted November 10, 2005 Posted November 10, 2005 Has the STI not got a quickshift as standard? Craig
Gumball Posted November 10, 2005 Posted November 10, 2005 the STI has a very close to "quick shift" set up. not far off it. regarding the whiteline droplinks. people will tell you to get them cos they dont have powerflex. powerflex all the way.
