fai17 Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 I sold an item on EBAY. The guy never replied to my emails so i reported him to EBAY. EBAY barred his account. I got a reply from the seller saying he was in a car accident blah blah blah and still want to buy the item if i take of the strike off against him. I told him ok if you pay me.. He the send me an email with Paypal stuff and things,,saying that paypal has withdrawn the funds from his account and is ready to be credited to my account once i forward the delivery numbers. His address is in Nigeria and his EBAY was in Netherlands and his fake Paypal was in American Dollers. It all looked dodgy so i reported that and URL to Paypal.co.uk. Got an email from Paypal stating that it's well fake and was told to change my password in the Paypal account to be on the safe side. I was lucky not to have done what he has told. Or else i would have lost the lot. Don't trust anyone on EBAY that has justed joined with ZERO feedback. You may not be so lucky. Jail the b@astard i say. Has anyone had that esperience. I am fecking rageing. Where's my gun(water).
Paulmc Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 Yeah my brother just got screwed on ebay £800 for a laptop that never arrived
fai17 Posted November 8, 2005 Author Posted November 8, 2005 Hang them by the baws....in the town centre..
thephantom Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 they are bad !! there must be some way they can be stopped
craig mac Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 Guys There is a way you can stop it In your listing you state " Will not ship to unconfirmed address " " Do not bid if you have less that 5 positive feedbacks" " Will not ship to Nigeria or other non ebay approved country" AND STICK TO THESE RULES OR YOU ARE OPEN TO BE STUNG. Always check feedback, always buy from sellers who have great feedback, always strick up some email comms before bidding to assess the seller/buyer and NEVER NEVER buy using paypal unless you are covered by there protection, they will tell you when you come to bid and pay weather protected or not. Ebay is a great community if you are careful and keep your eyes peeled as there are lots of scammers out there now yes, but you should and can spot them a mile off. Craig
paddy247 Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 Although not through ebay, had a guy email me trying to buy my scooby when i was thinking of selling it last month, He said he had the funds to transfer to me imediatly and needed my details so he could arange shiping and transfer of moneys. lol he got told to BOLT.
SIMBO Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 think i had a lucky escape was going to buy a engine and gearbox i was interested in but when the guy found out i stayed about 20 miles from him i never heard from him again. a bit sus i thinks david
herbie Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 Ive encountered the same kind of problems selling mobile phones. Buyers using fake UK addresses then ask for it to be shipped to Nigeria in later emails. Its came to the stage where I wont except Paypal as payment no more. I always put " I will post within UK only, No overseas bidders" but that does not stop them. Its a waste of my time and money having to relist the items im selling due to these c***s
craig mac Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 Herbie All you do is set up your account so as people without the required criteria can not bid If you get dodgy bids you can cancel them and block the bidder. You will loose no money relisting if they fail to pay, ebay will satnd good for this. No i do not work for Ebay, I am just a very very regular user Craig
peter_macgowan Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 I just sold my old K700I mobile I got 6 Emails from people in Nigeria wanting to but the phone they will pay up to £450 for it. I just ignored them and sold it to a UK buyer. As soon as I got the Email from those Nigerian punters I got one from Ebay telling me to beware.

SEEVERS Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 I sold my wheels to an English guy on EBAY for £230.I had a bit of a problem with my courier company but got it sorted (within a week)and let the guy know exactly what was happening ...so you can imagine my surprise when he claimed his payment back from Paypal, then took delivery of my wheels, answering my enquiring e-mail with "i've just come back my holidays and haven't seen them yet, i'll get that sorted out for ya with Paypal" ...needless to say, nearly 2 months down the line my Paypal account shows -£190.96 and ARSEHOLE BOY has nice new wheels and his F**KING money back. I'm off to kick F**K out of someone at 7 a sides.... L8rs Del.
craig mac Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 Seevers You must have proof of delivery? Did you ship to a confirmed address? If yes is the answer to all of the above then you have a 100% legally binding claim. However if you answer no to either or both then you are foooooked, This buyer , Its sad but true is one of the people out there that look for loop holes in yours the sellers sales Drop the ball and they are off with there money and the goods Its a great community if you use it correctly, stay safe and vigilant and you will have no issues Craig
