paulc555 Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 Having been involved as a stage commander on both the circuit of ireland and ulster international rallies I still have close contacts with the Irish tarmac rally championship. I know we have talked before about going to a WRC event, but how would you feel about an organised trip to the Circuit of Ireland 2006. There are more WRC cars on Irish soil than anywhere else...and this event is always a classic.... would anyone be keen on this Easter 2006 trip. Just wanted to open this up for discussion..... Obviously if i get no interest i wont bother and just go myself..... but hey thought i would like to show some of the good friends i have met through the sidc with an interest in rallying...where the action really is..... comments please..
the squiggle Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 Oh yes Just tell me how much for the ferry and accom and i am there. Whats the best fuel available on the Emerald Isle? Might be the Justy i have to take if 98.6 go go juice is not available Grant

zeolite Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 I would love to m8. I marshalled on the Killarney historic in 98 and had a complete blast. They love their rallying in ireland. It is a bit too far ahead in time for me and I have to persuade the wife to get on a ferry. I would reccomend it to anyone though.
the squiggle Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 Oh good me and 2 locals in the middle of Ireland...........Break out the Guiness..... Grant Anyone seen the McRae DVD of the Mk2 in full Tarmac mode going for it at Killarny, cause thats what the roads are like between the stages.

paulc555 Posted November 8, 2005 Author Posted November 8, 2005 Yes she would be welcome. At the moment I am just gauging interest in this. It will take an awful lot of both my time and friends in Belfast to organise. I can get rough costs for the boat and accomodation. There is a meeting on tonight and I will have more details of the route etc to plan all of this after..... However I do need to determine who would either a - be interested in marshaling b - just wants to go and spectate.....

corsa Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 You could always wait till the WRC heads to Sligo and make it one fantastic trip. Dates have still to be confirmed but it looks like it is heading to this lovely part of the country. I competed in the sligo stages last year and it was fantastic, a copy of our own in car video really lets you see what the roads are like over there.
the squiggle Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 Davie is your in car video available for public viewing I heard a rumour that they were wanting to stage a round of the WRC in Ireland. Grant
