DerekW Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 Hi folks, I'm thinking about getting a de-cat downpipe fitted on my MY01 WRX. Any recommendations for where I could get this done around Glasgow or central Scotland? I've heard C&C in Hillington are ok for custom exhausts - anybody had this done here? Meercat too in Kilbirnie but maybe an H&S pipe from AWD in Perth might be the safest option? Any comments would be appreciated. Cheers, Derek
MY94 Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 http://www.awdmotorsport.co.uk/ I recently went for the H&S up pipe and down pipe at AWD.Makes a huge difference to throttle responce, more grunt and I trully love how the car sounds now. They did a great job for me,my cars never been healthier...........so I say go for the H&S @ AWD
=Robbo= Posted November 1, 2005 Posted November 1, 2005 Hi Derek, C&C told me they can make an uppipe and downpipe for the Scoob, I was in there at the weekend getting my H&S backbox customised (as it's the worst fitting exhaust I've ever seen). I would get the up pipe done too mate as it's a big limiting factor when you go to somone like Andy F for a remap. Remember to budget for heat wrapping both pipes; it?s like £100 for a kit from Deamon Tweeks. I had my H&S pipes heat wrapped and fitted by Kenneth Brown in Hillington, hes' well respected in the Scooby game and did a great job on mine. Robbo.
DerekW Posted November 1, 2005 Author Posted November 1, 2005 Thanks guys. I'm tending towards AWD due to their experience with Subarus but I never considered wrapping the up/down pipes. Is this necessary or is it just a "nice to have"? Cheers, Derek
Bing Posted November 1, 2005 Posted November 1, 2005 Im sure peeps would agree that the downpipe SHOULD be wrapped. Its a real pain to do it once its on so you should arrange for it to be done before installation. Mine is wrapped but my up pipe isnt, and it runs like a sweety. I have noticed that underbonnet temps are high since all this de-catting etc so since COOL is good - get it wrapped!
st3ph3n Posted November 1, 2005 Posted November 1, 2005 As I remember reading somewhere - hot exhaust = better flow. Hot engine = HELP. Or something along those lines.
