st3ph3n Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 My DV arrived yesterday and I shall be attempting the fitment of it either tonight or tomorrow lunch time. The instuctions say to unclip the negative part of the battery, but am I right in thinking my alarm and tracker might not like this? If so can I fit it without unplugging the battery whilst I work.
rossyboy1 Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 Only going from my own experience with an after-market alarm: Ensure that alarm is set to off, as in doors open (obviously) Keep fob handy to press if alarm goes off Loosen the bolt and try to get the clip off in one (My power kept disconnecting and re-connecting while I was unscrewing and the alarm and central locking really didnt like that) No idea about the tracker, does it have a manual?
oobster Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 Stephen I fitted mine without touching the battery terminals. Instructions didnt even mention the battery. It's a Bailey DV i've got.
st3ph3n Posted October 26, 2005 Author Posted October 26, 2005 I thought that oobster. I fitted my stereo without unplugging the battery, and I'd have thought that was more likely to cause a problem.
tino Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 I have a Clifford alarm and anytime I disconnect the battery it goes off whether its armed or not. Once reset with the fob its ok.
Gumball Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 you shouldnt have to do that, ive had 4 dump valves and never done that or see anyone else do it. standard off, plug the gap attach the hose new one on some people say, and ive haf to do it myself.......when putting the new one on, take the I/C off, fit it, put the I/C back on.
st3ph3n Posted October 26, 2005 Author Posted October 26, 2005 Hopefully wont need to take the IC off. The kit is for the Impreza, so the instructions should be spot on, except for just leaving the electrics alone. Really looking forward to putting this on now. Can I expect some pops and bangs as well as the TSCHHHHH?
fai17 Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 You don't need to touch the battery Stephen as it has no electricals attach to the DV. Unbolt DV Unclip pipe work(quite difficult) Clip on pipe work(even more ticky) Bolt on new DV New DV won't make your car pop and bang unless it's fautly and drawing in air.
rossyboy1 Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 must admit, I did wonder why the battery would need disconnecting for a DV
fai17 Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 Rossy...When are you putting all the stuff on..Should be interesting
Gumball Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 the kits for an impreza? i would still watch out for taking that off. thats the nuisance bit sometimes getting them back on
st3ph3n Posted October 26, 2005 Author Posted October 26, 2005 The SSQV itself is universal, but it comes with a mounting flange and stuff for 2001 onwards Impreza. If that makes sense. I will be attacking this tomorrow lunch time in the daylight.
rossyboy1 Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 Unfortunately my mods wont be going on until after the winter as the car is SORN'd (at 12 years old, she needs looking after ) Thinking probably May after Mot and service in April (might get expensive ) Its going to be a long time for some expensive stuff to sit in a cupboard. Will make it all the sweeter when I drive out of Andy F's place though
