duke Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 starting a new job up in aberdeen next week and need to find a place to rent.... what areas of aberdeen are nice and what areas should i avoid (i really dont know much about aberdeen and its areas). my office will be in carden place so anywhere within easy short driving good, short walk better or if anyone knows a nice flat or room to let for a professional.... (may even just be for mon-thursday as i could come home, dundee, at weekends) - oh and nothing too expensice either, just graduated and starting out on my engineering career cheers, nyle
Iaing Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 Hi mate, im from Aberdeen. carden place is in a real nice area (very expensive to buy houses round there). I would imagine renting around there is expensive too. I actually go on bentley training courses there from time to time. I touch goats Iain
craig mac Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 possible flat for you Central Flat not far from Carden Union Street In the City Centre Nyle These are the 3 cheapest that i could find for you that may be suitable. As Iain says its nae cheep renting in Aberdeen You may be better getting a deal with a guest house, to keep a room for you 4 nights of the week. There are some nice guest houses in the Bon Accord Road Area and Possibly Crown Street sort of areas. Hope this of use to you. Craig
Iaing Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 Not bad flats there, any of those would be suitable Iain
duke Posted October 25, 2005 Author Posted October 25, 2005 yeah i thought of the mon-thursday thing - currently seems most cost effective, or i may buy place and rent out a room - but after my 3month probabtion big thanks guys, craig most useful cheers. ian - cheeky bugger - seen a nice 309gti btw
jamie_wood Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 Aberdeen is great!! Been here for five weeks now and been in every bar from S.U bars to old mans bars!! Its great!! Even been shopping on Union St and almost got poked £275 for a pair of Jeans in some whacky shop!! Bandits, I tell thee!!! What I have found is, 1: the traffic is always mad 2:the weather is always cold 3: students own the city 4: every one drives a car worth over20k 5id I mention the cold? 6: everyone works "in the oil and gas" industry!!! oh.....and you cant get accomidation anywhere unless you Book a year in advance
craig mac Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 Jamie Your right on a few topics and am glad you like the city Students like to think they own it!! Weather yes it is cold at the mo but when its warm its warm. And yeah most cars are over 20k LOL Craig
zeolite Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 Aye. Students did own the city back in 1984! Left Aberdeen a couple of years ago after I couldn't cope with the traffic any longer. Much happier in rural Fife these days. Had some great times in Aberdeen over the 20 years that i lived there but I am well shot of the place now.
andy Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 I'm with Zeolite. Born and bred, but left in hmmm..... 1988 (Bloody hell - was it that long ago...). Still up there regularly on business and love a night out there, but don't fancy living there again - though i do take a stock of butteries back every time I'm up
TypeRA28 Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 Dorikin You'll love Aberdeen. I stay just outside the granite city, and there are some lovely drives to be had, if you get my drift.
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted October 27, 2005 Posted October 27, 2005 Jamie - you forgot to add that it rains 50% LESS than it does in the Central / West of Scotland region ! And housing is still cheap compared to Glasgow & Edinburgh (well kept secret !) Cal
andy Posted October 27, 2005 Posted October 27, 2005 And don't touch the sheep - she probably has a steady boyfriend
