2559B Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 Car is currently running with full 3" Hayward & Scott exhaust ( with seperate front wastegate ) - HKS panel filter - Ecutek2 remap ( done by power engineering ). These mods. were fitted to the car when i got it. Dunno the exact BHP/torque figures, but been told to expect around 260-ish for both .... does this sound about right ??? What would the "technically gifted" members recommend to help me increase these figures ??? personally was thinking of adding a STI8 intercooler ... would this make any difference ??? would it have to be remapped again ??? also , if i was to run the car on optimax + octane booster, would this make any difference ??? please excuse my ignorance but i ain't all that clued up mechanically on cars ........... i just polish them !!! Cheers, Ally.
jasonb Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 I think 260-ish for both sounds about right for what you have done I might be talking crap but i dont think you would get much of a gain from a sti8 intercooler as your standard intercooler should be ok for just over 300bhp but someone will correct me if i am wrong what about an electronic boost controller + uprated fuel pressure reg and run a bit more boost, the only thing is you would probably need a remap aswell.
dipsy Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 Tek3 remap . The 99-2000 intercooler is rated for 330bhp that what it says on Andy f web site
lessels Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 i have basicaly same mods on my uk 99 and i got a ballhair under260 bhp and 240 torque mate.dont think you will get 300+ bhp with tek3 remap unless you fit bigger turbo and fuel pump(couple of cheap turbos on fs and wanted)dipsy you hoping for 330bhp mate???
dipsy Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 Lessels.2559b is on about more power and i posted tek3 remap.Intercooler is rated 99 2000 330 bhp
lessels Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 i know mate but you wont get near that with the standard td04 would you?what are those figures based on(330bhp)?
lessels Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 sorry mate just read your thread properly, your talking about the intercooler
the squiggle Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 Before any fiddling with the performance do you have the following fitted? Knocklink or similar detonation monitoring equipment AFR meter such as Lambdalink or similar A properly set up ECU map will generate in the region of 300bhp on a TD04. For a better shove in the back i would go for a TD05 supported with a uprated pump and regulator then get AndyF to remap it with the new turbo. If you dont fancy the larger turbo i would go for the uprated pump and regulator then a reamp for a higher boost pressure. The uprated pump and regulator will add that wee bit of safety when running the higher boost. But dont listen to me as a i dont know what i am talking about...... Grant
dipsy Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 Grant i don't have a knocklink or Afr meter .Just use optimax all time and some times millers octane booster . Andy F tek3ed my my2000 uk turbo .Do i need to worry because i don't have knocklink or Afr meter .I know people on here have these for peace of mind.
the squiggle Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 With the fragility of the MY2000 MAF sensor in mind it would be a good early warning if you get a bad batch of fuel or the MAF or O2 sensor was to fall outwith safe perameters The MAF plays a major part in the fuelling of the car when it starts to load up and if it starts to give out the wrong signal then the whole map will go t*ts up but on the plus side the STD ECU still retains its knock correction capability in case you get a bad batch of fuel. So yes a AFR meter and a Knocklink type device would be both a crucial monitoring device even with a Remap Grant

Grant it does have an AFR meter fitted ( no knocklink ..... but think should be first on my shopping list ) anybody have any suggestions which fuel pump & regulator to use ???
the squiggle Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 Either a SX or a SARD fuel pressure regulator would be nice Either a 255l/ph Walbro or FSE pump will do the job Knocklink is a definate first purchase Grant
