Dave, am i right in thinking mine and your car have different MAF sensors ? as i noticed you had an induction kit on your car on saturday and everyone under the sun on scoobynet is warning me about putting one on mine because of the MAF getting damaged ? you had any problems ?

The problem with MAF sensors and induction kits on scoobs tends to be largely related to ones impregnated with oil as opposed to dry type ones. Word to the wise though if you go for a dry pod filter avoid the blitz SUS one as whilst it looks and sounds nice I've seen the results of filtration tests done on it in a filter comparison and it pretty much lets all the crud through it!

What's made you deceide to keep the scoob? And more importantly what are the plans for mods?!

Hi all, would just like to apologise for my grumpy, shaky, pale skinned and blacked out look yesterday. Would like to assure you all I'm feeling much better today - all bright eyed and bushy tailed again !!

Alright cret !

I was looking at the HKS racing suction kit, but have been told my MAF will not last anything more than a week with it on if at all ! so just wondering wether it is old wives tales or should i actually just be looking for a decent panel filter ?

well i got some big'ish plans for the car ! but most of which will have to wait till the end of november/start of december !

mmmmm, bonus time !!!

I know everyone will hate me for this, but i am tempted to get a wide arch kit for it and get it in the bodyshop !! what do you guys recon ?

Plus the type R is more than sluggish at the moment, so need to sort something out there, but that will come with time !!!

Decided to keep the impreza because i honestly cannot think of a better car for the island ! there are cars faster than the impreza, but on the isle of man roads, i would not be too sure. Did think about a TVR tuscan till my boss brought his in and i was more or less capable of dismantling it infront of his eyes with my bare hands ! shocking build quality ! you can actually grab the rear window and pull it out and put your hand in the cockpit ! this could be a reason you never see a TVR out in the wet !! there not bloody waterproof !

face-icon-small-smile.gifglad the computer's fixed Graeme and Helen wondered why you hadn't put any posts up lately. Look at the prodrive shoot photo's you will see some familiar faces and cars on there. Helen don't apologise for your handover if it had of been me you wouldn't see me for a few days, mind you you did look a tad rough.

Had a K&N on mine for the last 3 years with no problems (STi version 2). After 96 I think they re-designed the MAF and the wire got thinner hence the breakages.

Dont think Dave has a MAF anymore (Tart, correct me if I'm wrong). Its due to one of the one million extra bits he has stuck on the tart mobile face-icon-small-wink.gif doing away with it.

Yes they do have different MAF Sensors, as Nick said they changed the design after 96 and then again after 97-98 (V4), unfortunately for you the 99-00 (V5-V6) is the most prone to vibration etc.

And as Jim said oiled filters are a no go like ITG etc.

I'm running a Gems ECU which does not need a MAF as it works off inlet temp, but also I have to run an induction filter due to the FMIC pipe work.

If your not going FMIC I would fit say a Green panel filter, test's have shown no difference in performance between panel and induction kits, only diff will be noise for obvious reasons.

At the end of the day its pot luck, some people fit them and never have a prob; some people I have heard don?t make 10miles before it goes bang.
