Country pub for nice lunch/dinner/tea

am taking the old dear out since she's had a difficult time recently and she really likes going out to the country for a drive and country pub lunch/dinner.

was wanting a nice country pub or hotel that does nice food with a good atmosphere - say no more than 2 hrs (normal driving ) from dundee. was thinking maybe as far north as aviemore, west as fort william perhaps even mallaig and no further south than galashiels.

any good reccomendations?

not too expensive either. settings great, nice food, nice drive there and back

I would have said The Crannog in Fort William without a second thought, but this happened to them earlier this year. They are still open, but relocated. If you're into seafood that really does taste like it's just been caught then give them a try.

The Clachaig Inn at Glencoe is fantastic,we visit approx once a month for the great food,great scenery and some nice wee walks after some grub.

Well worth a visit.

There is a nice place up at beecraigs country park, in the hills above Bathgate - excellent views right across to the forth road bridge etc. We've been there a few times & the food is excellent too.
