AlanG Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 << cars up to 506(.5!) bhp ran. >> Cool. What car was that then?
Gumball Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 well, if dastek are saying my car is 403bhp and your saying its 370bhp then which is it? yesterday it was mentioned that dastek could have sat on the brakes on the way down to encourage a better figure. By wallace. why would they do that? they dont care if my car puts out 100bhp do they?
Gumball Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 << Your car was making it's boost targets in 3rd >> is that right? i reset my defi's before it started and the boost didnt reach peak. i didnt realise until it was 40 miles south of aberdeen. so clearly it didnt reach peak. "but 4th and 3rd gear are just the same eh"
AlanG Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 403.................370 Well... if your down on boost between runs, that'll account for the difference.
Gumball Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 the boost at 1.5bar hits 403bhp the boost yesterday hit 1.4 max. that would mean there would be 30bhp of a difference. as i said. no difference between 4th and 3rd gear..................unless of course your cars mapped to hit certain power in midrange and 3rd gear. what this palava means is that all the cars that have been rollered at dastek in 3rd are really over figured? nonsense
AlanG Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 << i reset my defi's before it started and the boost didnt reach peak. i didnt realise until it was 40 miles south of aberdeen. >> A bit curious gumball. You say your car is mapped to 1.5 bar. Is it still getting 1.5 bar? Is the car mapped 1.5 bar to the redline? or is it a peak of 1.5 bar and tails off to say 1.4 bar to the redline? You didn't use full throttle/boost anywhere within that 40 miles when you checked your Defi's? If you didn't use full throttle/boost, then fair do's, but i'd most likely have used full throttle at some point in that mileage. Cars performance is too addictive not to! If you did use full throttle, then maybe something has happened since it was mapped? Or it hit a peak of 1.5 bar at Dastek when it wasn't meant to? For info, since we're talking 'bout runs in 3rd and 4th gears, i've got 2 graphs from April 2002 when my car ran (on the same rollers) in 3rd and 4th gear, no change in spec, map, whatever, and were back to back. Here's what the graph showed: 4th gear: Norm Power (corrected): 314bhp Engine output: 308bhp Wheel output: 232.5bhp (what the rollers read) Drag output: 75.5bhp Torque: 309Ib ft Air temp: 24 deg C 3rd gear: Norm Power (corrected): 314bhp Engine output: 297.5bhp Wheel output: 236.5bhp(what the rollers read) Drag output: 61.0bhp Torque: 294Ib ft Air temp: 29 deg C They may have the same corrected flywheel figure, but that is because the air temps are different and so the correction factor will take this into account. You can see in the figures though that my torque was down slightly when ran in 3rd compared to 4th and the "at wheels" figures are different between gears as well.
BAZ 1256 Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 << << so who all went along then?? i went and got 293bhp/ 251 ft.lb im happy enough >> Where you the guy with the typeR ?? I went and got 301.7bhp/292 ft.lb (99uk car) (a wee bit disapionted'ish and happy'ish @ the same time!!) >> yeah that was me mate, blue type r. was loving your interior by the way. very nice i had a good enough day there, i just wanted to see what i was sitting at for now b4 i do any other bits to it.
Gumball Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 the boost spanks off 1.7 but stays at 1.5. when i looked on the way home it hadnt been over 1.5 period. so .......... whatever acutally, its not right, i dont like it, the maps not changed any, its baws
AlanG Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 I'm confused now. You not happy with not getting 1.7bar in the midrange? (won't affect peak power figure), or are you not happy cause you didn't make the 400 figure?
Boyakasha Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 I'll add my 2p worth. I think that Chris was confused why he didn't make the same figures on the 2 rolling roads as they are both Dastek Rollers. There were a a number of factors that Russ has explained and as Chris pointed out he didn't reach peak boost for some reason. There was also the issue that his car didn't have the correct octane of fuel in etc. I think we should move on from this topic and get back to the RR day, which was a great success and thanks go to Russ and Gavin for organising the event. Also well done to those guys that travelled all the way up from as far as Glasgow to take part. Marc
AlanG Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 Nicely said marc and i agree, it's gone off topic. Perhaps gumball can create a new thread to discuss the anomolies of rolling roads and achieved figures? as there seems to be issues with his car. (fuel, boost) Hopefully a new thread won't become a slanging match but a thread where we can all learn from it.
Gumball Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 OK. i have mentioned in a number of posts now. theres nothing wrong with the car. here endeth the saga, thanks Alan.
Russs Posted September 12, 2005 Author Posted September 12, 2005 << Back on topic. Who/what made the 506bhp? >> Steven Scanlons Evo VI. It's fairly well known round Aberdeen now Built and mapped at WP incidentally Top guy, his head was splitting with a migraine so he made the journey from Ellon, stayed the 10 minutes and went back home to a darkened room. Thank you for the calming influences on this thread I have tried to only state facts, not stir controversy.
Gumball Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 apologies for the manner in which i broached my opinion. Im just annoyed that within 7 days there are different figures produced. not to worry, thanks for your help saturday
Big Daz Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 OT Russs, I believe you might have my old wagon in (MY95 Red) with a starting problem? Jake S now has the car & called me on friday. If you need any wiring/ other info give me a shout. Daz
WUZ Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 << Built and mapped at WP incidentally >> With a little help from Agra Engineering in Dundee Nice to see some of Gavin's and Russell's work pay off. They really are producing a lot of good figures for a lot of people cars. Russell ps - If Dastek was run at 24 and ABerdeen at 18, surely Aberdeen would have given better figure, especially if the advance multipliers were all at maximum (16)?. Could have been a loading issue down at Datek though. pps - so long as the car runs well and you are happy, who cares what the bhp is?
AlanG Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 << Who/what made the 506bhp? >> Steven Scanlons Evo VI >> Nice!
Russs Posted September 12, 2005 Author Posted September 12, 2005 << OT Russs, I believe you might have my old wagon in (MY95 Red) with a starting problem? Jake S now has the car & called me on friday. If you need any wiring/ other info give me a shout. Daz >> Nice of you to offer, thanks. Not been dealing with it myself, and to be honest we have alot of work on at the mo and it may not get sorted immediately. We probably shouldn't have taken it in but Jake was desperate for us to have a look at it. Will keep the offer in mind........
Russs Posted September 12, 2005 Author Posted September 12, 2005 << apologies for the manner in which i broached my opinion. Im just annoyed that within 7 days there are different figures produced. not to worry, thanks for your help saturday >> Apologies from me too if I have appeared too "matter of fact". I am not surprised you are annoyed. Hopefully you can see that we did everything we could to help towards the numbers you were hoping for. I don't stand and spray water on everyones topmount when their car is over 100mph on the dyno! Get yourself a front mount man! Regarding the boost targets - sorry I thought you said it was as you expected on our dyno - iirc it was holding c. 1.45 bar top end.
Big Daz Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 Nae Bother, I think I know what the problem is - bad / broken connection on ECU or shorted wires coming from it to switch on dash from when the switchable map was in it. Daz
Russs Posted September 12, 2005 Author Posted September 12, 2005 << With a little help from Agra Engineering in Dundee >> Only the best at this level dude Btw, are you man enough to take back some of last weeks comments? It wasn't even comparing the same car!!!
