dave_morgan Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 Sorry it's taken me so long to get these up, but this has been a difficult week for various reasons. Still no luck with Subaru Warranties so my P1 is still off the road . I am still waiting for a reply to my most recent letter so I am not the happiest Subaru owner at the moment!! dave_morgan Posted July 27, 2005 Author Posted July 27, 2005 << Good to see that you are still muffing the competition..... >> There was some good competition there this time though. Going into the final there were 3 of us with the same points. I had more first places so got the pole, and then it went down to fastest lap times to determine 2nd and 3rd! Certainly no time to doze off this time
dave_morgan Posted July 27, 2005 Author Posted July 27, 2005 For the purposes of the team event I devised a wee formula to give a total number of points for each person, taking into account which final each person was in and their total points after their final. From these points, I then added up the 3 best scores for each team to give a total for each car club or car type. I tried to ensure everyone had at least 4 in their team so they'd effectively have a spare result they could drop, but it didn't work for all teams I'm afraid! The teams were : - Subaru classic (non wagon) - 6 members - Subaru newage - 4 members - Subaru wagon - 3 members - TVR - 4 members - Elise - 3 members - Nissan - 3 members - Ford/RS - 5 members - Vauxhall - 3 members - Renault/Peugeot - 4 members - Ferrari - 4 members I split up the Subarus into 3 teams as I reckoned it would be a bit of a whitewash with 13 people in one team. As it happened the top 3 subaru drivers were all classic drivers anyway, so the result would have been the same regardless! I also had to move a few people from their 'real' team to a second choice, as there were a few teams with one member (Brian in his Noble M12 for example!). Anyway, it was just for fun so hopefully nobody minded too much! The final team results will be listed shortly...once I remember where I saved them on my laptop !!
dave_morgan Posted July 27, 2005 Author Posted July 27, 2005 OK, team results are as follows .... 1st - Subaru Classic - 266 points 2nd - TVR - 249 points 3rd - Ferrari - 228 points 4th - Ford/RS - 227 points 5th - Lotus Elise - 182 points 6th - Subaru Newage - 170 points 7th - Subaru Wagon - 140 points 8th - Vauxhall - 128 points 9th - Renault/Peugeot - 111 points 10th - Nissan - 100 points Thinking I'll probably give the Nissan team a wee hand next time and fly my GTR banner that day !! Big thanks to all for coming along last Saturday. I had a great time, and I it seemed to be the general concensus that everyone else did too. Thanks to Raceland as well for a well run event and for the extra 'team event' wine that they kindly donated free of charge. I'll probably arrange another one later in the year, even if I don't have a Subaru !!
dave_morgan Posted July 28, 2005 Author Posted July 28, 2005 Top for the morning crew... I'll post the individual points results later if I get quiet at work !!
stephen_fergus2 Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 C'mon the wagons Cheers Dave .. and thanks again for a great day Now all I need to do is break that 1min barrier !! Steve
IanJ Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 Thanks again for a great day out. Although i am still crippled Thanks also to whoever stood in for me as i had to leave early. Glad to see they were keeping up my excellent standard of driving
johns Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 Another excellent day out I'm very surprised that I finished as high as 8th in the B final a) Ended up dead last after a typical first hairpin incident which I initially thought I had managed to avoid. Had the biggest off/spin of the day, partially due to ©. On the old start/finish straight, clipped a tyre on the exit which span me sideways and then backwards at full speed under the remaining tyres knocking some into the middle of the track. c) Had an evil handling kart for the final, which understeered in every corner and had very little grip. On the big loop at the bottom of the track before you come onto the old star/finish straight, I had to lift off on each lap to avoid sliding off the track into the tyres. The plus side was it had fast engines which meant ai could claw back some of the lost time. it was the same kart that Mark W had in the final, which caused him to go from 2nd to 5th and lose. d) I ended up on the same place on track as two of the guys who travelled down with me. Realising that none of us were in contention for a podium place, we elected to have some (non contact) fun for the last few laps John
dave_morgan Posted July 28, 2005 Author Posted July 28, 2005 Here are the final points results from the karting after my wee formula was applied. I haven't ordered it to take into account best position finishes or fastest lap times, so if you've got the same points as someone else, you may or may not have beaten them. I just marked you down as = for convenience !. 1 Dave Morgan 94 2= Brendan Watt 90 2= Marc Whalley 90 4 Paul Healy 88 5= Graham 87 5= David Joseph 87 7 John Paul 85 8 Craig Alsop 84 9 Willie Ball 78 10= Callum Shand 75 10= Fraser Shand 75 12 Simon L 73 13 Brian Jamieson 70 14 Steven H 65 15 Robin Watt 62 16 Kevin Peebles 61 17 Alan 59 18 James Thomson58 19 Simon Arnot 57 20 John Stewart 56 21= Ed 55 21= Don 55 21= Mark Paterson 55 24 Paul 52 25 Kenny McGee 50 26 Johnny 48 27 Garry Mitchell 40 28 Scott 39 29 Alex 37 30 Steve 32 31 Dave Robertson31 32 Craig Johnson 29 33 Gordon 27 34 Adam 23 35 Liam 22 36 IanJ 20 37= Ian Craig 19 37= Susan 19 39 John Shand 18
