Just wondering how the WRC cars have a really chirpy wastegate and what you would have to do to get a road car to sound similar ?

You can do it but external wastegate/ no dump valve and many many turbo changes would be called for so its not advisable.......... gotta love the noise they make though face-icon-small-happy.gif

I got it a little bit when I ran my standard airbox with ITG panel filter, standard DV but with the resonator in the inner wing removed!!!!! face-icon-small-smile.gif

Correct me if I'm completely wrong, but isn't the chirp to do with the anti-lag?

So perhaps some sort of anti-lag system is in order.

Not cheap I imagine.

Had the WRC style chirp for over a year now

To obtain WRC style chirp requires you to remove all of the dump valve components and blank off the openings.

The TD05 turbo fitted to the early cars can handle the stress of the turbo spinning back and forth very quickly when you lift off the throttle. The IHI series of turbos were a bit more fragile in the main shaft dept and are not suited to non dump valve spec.

I now need to fit a std recirc as i have replaced the TD with a VF28 so no more chirp for me...face-icon-small-sad.gif

Dont think it`s Antilag.

I had Anti-lag on mine, along with other mods, and it never made that noise. face-icon-small-sad.gif

Although, i had an HKS SSQV, and it was close the the noise sometimes.

I had ALS setup, and it produced 1bar of boost at tickover when switched on. face-icon-small-happy.gif

Thanks Scott, everyone, for your input.

I didn't think it would be cheap (ha, no pun intended face-icon-small-blush.gif) as the amount of design and technology that goes into a WRC car is phenomonal.

If you don't ask though.....
