lessels Posted July 15, 2005 Posted July 15, 2005 will a vf 35 turbo from a sti8 fit my 99 uk classic? and if so will it give a big power gain from the wee tdo4? cheers guys!!!!
fai17 Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 yes it will fit but you will need to fit some sort of boost controller too.
andrew_lally Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 think it fits dude...but would it not be better saving the money and getting yourself some driving lessons you big lassie.....pmsl....hahahaha cheers andy p.s. you coming up on the 24th dude???
lessels Posted July 16, 2005 Author Posted July 16, 2005 would a remap not set the boost properly?i currently have a tek2 and was wondering if it would be a straight bolt on to give an instant power gain?
dipsy Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 What sort of bhp did your car make with the tek2 at dastek dont you have full decat as well .Just won,t to now because mines got a tek2 exchange ecu full decat jr panel but i am getting a remap to sort boost problems its an my2000 uk turbo
higgy Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 Phone andy f and ask him for some help with what you r intinding on doing and he will keep you on the straight and narrow Phone on monday no is: 077 2088 8610 Higgy
lessels Posted July 16, 2005 Author Posted July 16, 2005 hi dipsy, car made 255.4bhp and 237lbft mate so im assuming it has a tek2 but i need a bit more than that so i was gonna put on the vf 35 an see wot i get next time.could i fit the turbo with a manual boost controler?
dipsy Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 Hi lessels like higgy says phone andy forrest about that turbo and he can remap it as well he does ecutek .I am waiting for a phone call from awd to tell me what days andy forrest will be there so i can take car to be remaped .Was your car running alright because you were a bit concered when you were speaking to me i was the bloke who spoke to you at knockhill and at dastek
lessels Posted July 16, 2005 Author Posted July 16, 2005 the guys at dastek said car was runnin good(a wee bit rich but ok)dipsy.the last time i spoke to you you were havin a bit o problem wi overboost or somethin, did u get it sorted mate?or is that wot u are seein andy f for?
dipsy Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 hello lessels yes that what i am having problems with so i hope andy can solve .Have you got a boost gauge fitted then youll tell with the boost pressure if car has tek2
lessels Posted July 16, 2005 Author Posted July 16, 2005 aint got one mate, need to get one though!!!i think im gonna go with the 35 turbo and see the results on the rollers
dipsy Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 If i was you i would seek andys or some other with our car knowledge or you could end up damaging engine with more boost pressure ie not right fuel air mixture thats my thought its up to you
lessels Posted July 16, 2005 Author Posted July 16, 2005 would the 35 turbo not be a straight bolt on and run at the same boost pressure as the td04 or am i gona have to get bigger injectors, fuel pump ect. i take it that a remap is a must?
Johnny50 Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 Remap is definately a must. Your injectors (440`s) will be fine i would think. Definately an uprated fuel pump... As a comparison, my TD04 gave up the ghost, and i went from that, to a TD05/06, then to a VF34, another 05/06, then down to a VF30. All needed remap. And i wouldnt recomend running it on boost without being mapped. I ran mine from just the wastegate until the remap, so wouldnt even make 0.5 bar. Nice`n safe. I also moved from standard pump to a Walbro 255lph, and changed my injectors from 380cc (my98) to 440. Hope that helps.
dipsy Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 hello johnny 50 you wouldnt know what safest max boost pressure is on tdo4
lessels Posted July 16, 2005 Author Posted July 16, 2005 cheers johnny!!!with a vf35,uprated pump and remap, could you tell me roughly what kind of power gain to expect?
Johnny50 Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 << hello johnny 50 you wouldnt know what safest max boost pressure is on tdo4 >> Not really sure to be honest. I never ran mine more than standard boost. When the turbo went, the rest of the mods went on too. << cheers johnny!!!with a vf35,uprated pump and remap, could you tell me roughly what kind of power gain to expect? >> Really hard to say...what other mods do you have ? Decat ? TMIC/FMIC ? Headers ? Who`s doing your map ?
ian_finlayson Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 I'm running 14psi with no over fuelling problems. I'm led to believe that the ecu standard will cut boost at 14.8 psi. Could be wrong though. Personally I am tempted by AndyFs Hybrid TD04 exchange. Sounds nice, I want more early power rather than big bhp. Then again need to sort the chassis out first.
dipsy Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 Hello finnie if lessels has tek2 ecu like me in 3 4 5 gears say when you start accelarting the boost gauge reads 20psi somebody will come along say thats to high for a tdo4 but i dont know how acurate my boost gauge is.When i had dawes device on my car and setup by awd it was just below fuelcut and its a lot higher than 14.8psi .I think fuel cut is for pre 1997uk cars is 1 bar but later uk models the limit is approximately 1.25 bar this information was in you and your subaru impreza turbo book by Chris Rees
lessels Posted July 17, 2005 Author Posted July 17, 2005 dipsy, with my tek2 ecu giving me 1.2bar(or whatever it is),if i put in the vf35 without a remap will that be too much for my engine to handle?im startin to get lost now.what would the remap do?cheers mate(or to anyone else that can answer this)
dipsy Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 lessels give andy f an email and hes the expert on remaps and he will tell you what other things need to run the vf 35 turbo safely
