Hi there

Been browsing for a while now and thought i would join up

Six weeks ago i treated myself to a nice Version 3 Type R, Sonic Blue with a claimed 360 horse power

We will see how it goes when i tie her down to the rollers.

I stay in the Glasgow area and will try to get to a meet but work can be an absolute nightmare to arrange things round so i will see how it goes.

Welcome along.

Christ we are gonna need more space soon to accomadate all these newcomers.....face-icon-small-smile.gif

There is a meet tonight down Kilmarnock way but they are a bit funny down that way........IMHO

Next Glasgow meet is on the 2nd August at the Brewers Fayre in Hillington.

One of my favourite Scoobies is the Version 3 Type R especially in Sonic Blue......face-icon-small-smile.gif

What sort of mods does your car have mate??

Cheers,

Is this the Grant club.....hahaha

Not really had a chance to investigate but there is a stack of paperwork from the previous owner indicating internal and turbo work from a place down south called Scoobyclinic.

Question for the technical minded out there

What turbo should be fitted to the V3 Type R?

Where can i take it to service the car?

Where should the DCCD thing on the centre console be set at?

The car looks std apart from the larger intercooler on the top, decat and cone filter.

Boost is sitting at 1.6bar and it just loves wiggling its backside when it is a bit slippyface-icon-small-smile.gif

Not technically minded, just read a hell of a lot of obscure Jap magazines

1. The turbo should be a IHI VF23

2. Greersport would be able to service/repair the car

3. Basically Dry.........all the way back, the wetter it gets put it further forward

Do you have a Knocklink or similar device fitted as 1.6 bar is a tad high.

Yes it will like to shake its arse with 1.6 bar running through it. Be careful coming out the corners

Turbo has an HKS stamp on it and looks a bit too big for the hole it is meant to be in?

Where is Greersport and do u have a contact number?

Sorry but what is a Knocklink?

Knocklink

The knock link is a visual display module which takes the output of a knock sensor ( piezo microphone ) and displays the signal on the LED scale . This scale is used to display abnormal, high frequency noise as caused by detonation. The Knock sensor is usually a piezo-electric microphone which generates an output signal when large amplitude vibrations are present. This signal is filtered and amplified by the display unit and presented as a bar graph showing the noise level/ level of detonation.

This is important as severe detonation will destroy any engine in a matter of seconds, so it is vital to know immediately when detonation occurs. Detonation can be caused by a number of things beyond your control such as poor fuel quality or a sensor failure on the engine, even protracted maximum speed runs can cause a build up of heat which can create unexpected detonation and engine failure.

It would also be remiss not to point out that expensive forged pistons are not immune to detonation damage it just takes a few seconds longer! You have been warned, get the KnockLink now and avoid engine detonation.

GreerSport is in Kilbirnie - there website ain't up and running yet though

Welcome aboard Joe. Leave your diff on the 'free' setting. From memory, the dash should show a green circle. If it's showing a yellow symbol, it's wound forward a bit which will make it a little less tail happy (ie safer in the wet) but not a good idea for the dry. NEVER use it in the lock setting unless you're on snow or gravel. Take a look through the SIDC FAQ pages, as from memory there's a pretty good section about the diff in there.

See you around !

Dave
