Gumball Posted June 25, 2005 Posted June 25, 2005 cant be bothered reading the other thread and have no idea where were going, but im in.
jamie_wood Posted June 25, 2005 Posted June 25, 2005 Me and Ally are heading up tomorrow afternoon and will camp it out at the camp site just outside Alford. No early starts for us
the squiggle Posted June 25, 2005 Author Posted June 25, 2005 If i leave Gla at 5am then i should have the Braemar road to myself at 6am on a Sun in the middle of summer........worth the early rise alone........ Grant
johns Posted June 25, 2005 Posted June 25, 2005 Grant, the Braemar road is well worth getting up early for. No traffic, superb bit of road etc. Should only take you about 2 1/2 - 3 hours, (possibly less ), so a 5am start might not be needed. However, a few miles out of Braemar, if you take a left (signposted Tomintoul) before you reach Crathie, then go Tomintoul, Dufftown, Rhynie, Alford then you'll have the most fantastic drive Please take care when approaching/leaving Braemar. There's always extra police in the area at this time of the year near Balmoral Castle etc. John

Gumball Posted June 25, 2005 Posted June 25, 2005 mind and take 15 cases of octane booster!!! theres no shell garages apart from Blair G and yu get a free horte from the police with every litre. well some people do LOL
johns Posted June 25, 2005 Posted June 25, 2005 Would you believe there's an Optimax petrol station in Alford. It's just on the outskirts of Alford (beyond the 40mph) limit on the Aberdeen side. I've got a feeling it's going to be busy tomorrow
