col666 Posted June 25, 2005 Posted June 25, 2005 Done a few track days but seeing this happen does make you wonder if its worth it. My scoob isnt worth that much so i amnt too concerned about denting it! I have gone off track myself and done a bit of damage(my own fault) but for somebody else to hit you must be bloody annoying to say the least! You pay your money you take your chances!! Col.
st3ph3n Posted June 25, 2005 Posted June 25, 2005 << At the last SIDC track day a Ferari pulled out of pit lane and was not going verry quick and i just about ran up the arse of if . Now that would have been a fab axperiance (NOT). >> Sh!t can happen anywhere though. I'll never forget the day I came within 3 feet of driving clean over the top of a Lamborghini that was so low that it was completley below my eye line.
john mac Posted June 25, 2005 Posted June 25, 2005 Thats the danger of track days, too many people who dont know their own limits or their vehicles limits,(Aqua -planing in the wet, now there's a suprise eh!)as for the subaru, well 99% of insurance companies will write that car off . Ive actually bought accident damaged cars with less damage than that.He could always tell his insurers it happened on a quiet road with no one else involved, not the honest thing to do ,but its that or cough up serious doh to fix. P.s Top Tip do not do track days with people who have track day cars,as you find people who need their cars for work the next day drive a whole lot safer than people with toys who dont! When they come on-you go off.
teknopete Posted June 25, 2005 Posted June 25, 2005 This incident has raised a possible issue. Perhaps trackday insurance should be made manditory to protect everyone on track? Personally I have never taken BR out on track without insurance as I couldn`t afford to replace her in the event of a serious off. It`s a fact though that there are the occasional drivers who attend trackdays (luckily very few at SIDC days) that leave there brains at home however these drivers tend to be spotted by the marshals and taken off before brainfade sets in.
