TypeRA28 Posted June 2, 2005 Posted June 2, 2005 I have still had no luck selling my car, so wondered if anyone had any other suggestions. It has been in on Autotrader.co.uk for the past 4 weeks, and I am putting it on ebay tomorrow (free car listings day). Has anyone had any luck anywhere else? Remember, if you hear of anyone wanting a scoob, just give me a shout.
Jazmac Posted June 2, 2005 Posted June 2, 2005 i was trying to sell mine for four months mate, had no luck and only 2 or 3 time wasters for the whole period it was advertised for in autotrader amd ebay, the problem with ebay is people expect to get items for cheap and you dont want to part with a car where you will take a massive loss,i even resorted to agencies and still no luck, decided to keep it as its a stunning car. Good luck mate.
Big Daz Posted June 2, 2005 Posted June 2, 2005 Had mine in Autotrader also, Not much luck there. Put it in ScotAds (green paper) also has the advantage of being free Had 6 calls on 1st day of issue and a cash sale the very next day. Worth a shot ? Daz
johns Posted June 2, 2005 Posted June 2, 2005 I hate to say this, but you could try lowering the price a bit if you *really* need to sell quickly. It's a bit of a buyers market at the moment and there are many newer cars than yours (OK probably not to the same spec and condition) for less money, even on a dealers forecourt. The majority of buyers aren't aware of the differences between the models, just look at the age & price and probably see yours as quite a bit more expensive than the others and don't give a 2nd thought as to why and just move onto the next one. With an RA, you are probably looking at a fairly limited market of people who are specifically looking for an RA and know what they are looking for. It's probably a case of hanging on for that buyer to turn up, or take a bit of a hit on price to move quickly. Might be worth phoning around some of the traders who often have these cars to see what they would offer you for cash (e.g. Brian Downie, Sunnyhill etc.) Even the car dealer in Kintore has one on his forecourt at the moment. You should expect a bit more than that from a private sale (up to £1k), and the trader will probably put it on his forecourt for £500 - £1k more than that to allow for trade-ins etc. John
