sKunk Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 This really chaps my ass. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/shropshire/4559173.stm An extract for above: A police constable who reached 159mph on a motorway has been cleared of speeding and dangerous driving. Pc Mark Milton, 38, from Telford, Shropshire, was recorded by the patrol car's video camera on the M54 in 2003, Ludlow Magistrates' Court heard. District Judge Bruce Morgan acquitted him after calling the constable the "creme de la creme" of police drivers. Pc Milton is trained in advanced driving and was "familiarising" himself with a new car, the court was told. [snip] But the Police Federation defended the driving of Pc Milton, who is also known to have travelled at 120mph in a 60mph zone and at more than 60mph in a 30mph zone. Outrageous.
dave_morgan Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 That story is so full of crap it makes me sick. - Has to practise driving at high speeds ??? If he wants to practice driving at high speeds - do it on a track like the rest of us have to! - It was safe because the roads were deserted ?? It wouldn't take long to catch up a granny in her fiesta trundling along at 55mph at that kind of speed. - What would have happened if a tyre had blown out?? No amount of advanced police driver training can save you from that one - luck is your only hope !! - Why can they get away with endangering OUR lives when they're the very ones saying we shouldn't do it !! Doesn't make much sense to me ! Gets right on my goat this kind of story !!
imprezapete Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 lol this is so funny, if I get nabbed for speeding I will just say im familiarising myself with my cars abilitys unreal
IanJ Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 << In reaching his verdict, Mr Morgan noted that two police officers who gave evidence for the prosecution, including West Mercia Police's senior driving instructor, had declined to classify the defendant's driving as dangerous. >> Of course they are going to say that. Got to look after their own haven't they. << The officer, who is also trained in the use of firearms, >> So if he took a gun out and used it at night when the streets were quiet would that be ok too? I love this country's justice system
st3ph3n Posted May 19, 2005 Posted May 19, 2005 Is there a "police speed limit" that they should stay under, even when in hot pursuit? Anyone know what he was driving too? The big beemers and mercs might well be 155 limited, and I don't see the police uncapping them.
ANDYJDMSTI Posted May 19, 2005 Posted May 19, 2005 Having completed the police advanced driving course i wonder if i would get away with saying i was testing my STI at 160mph. does it also mean i am part of the "creme de la creme" that are untouchable?????? feckin doubt it!!!! About time these kn0bbers were brought to justice, all they seem to do is take the p1$$ Throw the same book at em as they do to every day drivers
Gumball Posted May 19, 2005 Posted May 19, 2005 thats a joke!!!!!!! i reckon its cos he caught one of his bosses smoking in the shower................. so they stuck up for him incase he touted on them to the news of the world. we would be in barlinnie smoking rol-ups and dropping soap after that
WUZ Posted May 19, 2005 Posted May 19, 2005 Too right! Boyakasha might try to use that "the next time" Russell
Boyakasha Posted May 19, 2005 Posted May 19, 2005 << Too right! Boyakasha might try to use that "the next time" Russell >> Yeah I could just see it.....Well officer you see I fitted this new TD 05/06 20G to my car and I wanted to see when it ran out of puff in top gear Still waiting Marc
john_robertson Posted May 19, 2005 Posted May 19, 2005 The 159 is bad enough but the w*nker was also caught doing 84 in a 30 FFS thats a jail sentence for any normal punter John.
st3ph3n Posted May 20, 2005 Posted May 20, 2005 He was driving a 3.2 litre Vectra, unmarked. Now I've had the pleasure of driving an old shape vectra, 1.8 Club SE, at 134 on the Autobahn, and it was SCARY. The car suffered SERIOUS front end lift at 80 onwards. Maybe they've fixed it on the new one, but I wouldn't fancy giving it a bash.
andy Posted May 20, 2005 Posted May 20, 2005 Doesn't the law state that they are subject to the same laws as the rest of us except when responding to emergency calls and clearly showing blue lights and sounding sirens? Judge was clearly a mason...
