Martin R Posted April 30, 2005 Posted April 30, 2005 As per the title, my little Sis has just bought an MY02 Cooper S and wants it to sound like my bad boy . (MY00 Scooby, full decat and afterburner). Although I don't fancy her chances, there is a local garage at Turriff that do the Powerflow systems and he said they can customize it to make it as loud as she wants! Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with these either on the Scoobys or other cars and if they would recommend them. Cheers, Martin
wrxmania Posted April 30, 2005 Posted April 30, 2005 I know that it varies on dealer to dealer. I also know that companies such as C&C Custom Stainless Hillington near Glasgow Airport regularly have cars in getting them replaced as they have rusted (poor materials) or have broken up inside. Also the tail pipes are often a screw on, Halfords style job. They do not rate them at all. However, I am sure many people have been happy with a Powerflow system. The Cooper S may become boomy with too loud an exhaust for motorway etc if badly designed. Good luck - there will be no scooby rumble though Brian
ANDYJDMSTI Posted April 30, 2005 Posted April 30, 2005 First one for afew days Brian!!! why doesn't your sis just go buy a scooby instead of being a wannabe?????
drb5 Posted April 30, 2005 Posted April 30, 2005 Sorry bud, but unless she get's a Flat Four engine fitted to it, it ain't ever gonna sound like a scoob.
Martin R Posted April 30, 2005 Author Posted April 30, 2005 I realise she won't get a burble but I'm hoping it will have a bit of a "rip" about it, like the ones in the Italian Job (with a few other tweaks) She loves the Scoobies (my dad and uncle both have as well!!) but I think she likes the idea of looking like this delicate little female driver in a mini but terrorising folk on the twisties, mad little bugger. I think the guy that installs the Poweflow ones welds them up while you wait and is supposed to be a really good hand. Maybe if C & C were a bit closer I'd give them a bash!
allan_thorne Posted May 1, 2005 Posted May 1, 2005 well we have two mini cooper s with a few mods. You not get it to sound like the scooby but there is a lot of cracking exhaust out there. and mega tunning companies me I went for Play Mini but a few of the guys do have powerflow exhausts fitted by turriff in fact one guy was trying to sell his a we while back check this site out for anything you need to know mini we are a friendly buch clciky
the squiggle Posted May 1, 2005 Posted May 1, 2005 Change over HT leads no 2 and 3 then it will sound like a Scoob Grant
Carl Davey Posted May 1, 2005 Posted May 1, 2005 I went to school with the chap who makes the Powerflow exhausts for Turriff Tyres. He used to have a Scooby so will know what to do to make the Mini sound as close as possible to one. They do make them while you wait but best to nip up to Celebrations for a cuppa because you'll be freezing watching. You sound like you're close to me Martin?
Martin R Posted May 1, 2005 Author Posted May 1, 2005 Cheers for the advice Scottiescoob, never even knew the site existed. Grant, swapping HT leads was a close 3rd after 1) chucking in some leaded petrol from the dads mower and 2) doing a spot of DIY with the Black & Decker and adding a few holes Hey Carl, I've heard good things about Julian so I think we'll go there. He said he could customize it while we wait, see if she is happy etc and then change it if not. I hail from the "Paris of the North", Fraserburgh for my sins and am a rig rat like you. I've had Scoobies for nearly 6 years now but never really posted on here or Scoobynet, oh well never to late to start. The more mods I think about doing the more I think I had better ask for advice
