st3ph3n Posted April 23, 2005 Posted April 23, 2005 What do the Toyos offer that the Bridgestones don't? I've only done 6000 on my Bridgestones so far and I have no opinion on them either way as it's the first car I've owned that had enough power and ability to really require proper rubber. I love the grip, but that could be the car or the tyres, or both. I bought a second set of wheels off the excellent scottiescoob so I've got a set of identical wheels with brand new RE050s to move onto once I've used these, but I was considering keeping one set of winter (probably the new ones) and sticking some less treaded on for the summer. Yes, that one week in July that is summer.
andy_robertson Posted April 23, 2005 Posted April 23, 2005 try black circle tyres on the web you can also get them fitted at a wee place in kildean market it tells you on the site where it is and they also have ratings on the different makes of tyres they also sometimes do special offers ive got michelins on mines bit more pricey but the best for handling

Croc Posted April 25, 2005 Posted April 25, 2005 can't help you much on choice of tyres, but similar to you, I've managed to get hold of a spare set of anthracite wheels (with Bridestone Potenza RE070's on them - which look pretty good - although the tread pattern makes them look almost illegal from the side). I needed 4 new tyres anyway, and these were such a bargain, I effectively got the wheels for free!. Just changed the wheels over yesterday, and still undecided if I prefer gold or anthracite. (on a blue 03 STI) - but couldn't be arsed changing the tyres to the old wheels. will be looking to put full winter tyres on one set and the RE070's for summer only - have you picked up any views on which winter tyres? p
