was driving home from Edinburgh yesterday afternoon when i looked up the slip road and saw the b..tards ,looked down at my speedo and i was siting at 90. Next reaction was to look at my road angel to see that it had not picked anything up ,so i thinks to my self i must be ok lol ,no i wasn't they pulled up behind me and the lights went on and i pulled over.

They had this small devive displaying my speed (hand held roughly the size of a digi camcorder) showing 91mph , then he went on to brag about the fact that my road angel had not picked it up , as he had spoted it on the seat . so i got a £60 fine and 3 points.

does anyone know wat they were using and why the road angel didnt pick it up

same thing happened to me. not a thing from my road angel. 41 in a 30 @ road works £60 3 points.

Anyway had to find out why my road angel didn't pick up anything here is what I was told.

They are zapping you with a laser backed up by video evidence .

they keep the beam short and low meaning they wait until you are almost on top of them the laser beam is going below that of the road angel our "Friend" then demostrated. Couldn't believe it

Now in my scooby we have the micro road pilot with a gizmo front and rear

Sorry to hear you get points, but 3 and £60 fine sounds not to bad. Known others at that speed range get taken to court and raped for 6+points and £300+

But unluck the same.

The thing is, even if your road angel had picked it up you'd still have got done.

Laser detetion is pretty ropey unless you have something mounted front and rear. They use narrow band beams that aim at your plate generally. So if your road angel's laser unit is on the windscreen then they probably wouldn't have hit it, or if they were behind you it would need to have come the whole way through the car and hit it from the other side. The Impreza's cabin is quite tightly packed, and of course, if you get on the brakes and pitch forward it makes it even harder to hit.

Which is why if you really want laser protection you need to mount sensors.

Yeah I have heard that 95+ is now the speed for them to start banning you

100+ Auto ban, at least for us normal people. Unless you are a Tory lord

cheers guys, sma01 did u send it in recorded delivery, that way you would know if the f.....g b......s got your licencand fine. Chase it up or youl end up in court owing them more money.

they sent the forms to my work(got caught in the company car not the scoob) - so sent them back from there, and then had them sent to the house, and send them back just the other day, will give it a day or so then phone them
