Gee Wr1 Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 Ok it's time for some new pads on the front of car, looking for opinions please. Do i go for another set of oe pads from the dealer (Around £200 i think) or what other pads? Have noticed lots of cars running Ferrodo DS2500 pads, what like are they? Do they take longer to warm up, what like from cold, & price? Car has same Brembo set up as Sti's Cheers Gee
sti-zlv Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 I put Mintex race pads on mine, they squeek when cold but once there hot they were superb. Lasted 8000 miles and still seem to be OK, even after a trackday. Back pads are now non existant though, so need new ones Matt
Gumball Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 i think i better get new pads too. i left mine at the hairpin 3ks south of crail................................
Gee Wr1 Posted April 5, 2005 Author Posted April 5, 2005 Standard pads have lasted 9000 inc a trackday.
Johnny50 Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 Never had a problem with DS2500's myself. Seem to work well.
Gee Wr1 Posted April 5, 2005 Author Posted April 5, 2005 << Never had a problem with DS2500's myself. Seem to work well. >> What like are they from cold, are they less prone to fade when hot?
Johnny50 Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 From cold they were good, First push of the pedal was always a bit wary, but then fine after that. Fade was not too bad, never had it on track, but they lasted a good 25mins of serious braking on some backroads before i could notice any big difference. I was using Brembo 4 pots.
Gee Wr1 Posted April 5, 2005 Author Posted April 5, 2005 Cheers for that Johnny Thats what i was needing to know Just got to find prices for them now, where did you get them from & how much?? Thanks Gee
Johnny50 Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 I got mine as a package with the 4 pots...so never had to buy the pads on their own. I've no longer got the car, so never had to replace them. But, i bought them from Ian @ Godspeed.
wrxmania Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 The top place to buy is A S Performance. Alyn will do you a great price on the pads etc - I think they will be around £135 a pair for the fronts. Mention the SIDC when you phone/email him. Brian
johns Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 Also try Gavin at Wallace Performance. I got my last set of DS2500s for £130 from him with SIDC discount. I'm on my 2nd set now. I find they are a bit dustier than the OEM pads, but work well without noise. Better fade resistance than the OEM pads. I'm going to try the EBC Ceramic Red Stuff pads next time around (different from the normal red stuff). SHould be about the sme price and apparently very good performance. John
zeolite Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 << i left mine at the hairpin 3ks south of crail................................ >> Blimey were you chasing a fishing boat?
wrxmania Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 I might add I am running Pagid RS 4.2.1 pads (slightly more expensive than the Ferrodo) but they are lasting up well, not too messy, pretty quiet and again Alyn will do a good price. He reckons these slightly have the edge over the Ferrodo's. P.S. Both the Ferrodo's and the Pagid's are designed to work well from cold and with OEM discs too. Brian
Gee Wr1 Posted April 7, 2005 Author Posted April 7, 2005 Thank you everybody for your replys Found out what i needed to know, couple of phonecalls to be made now. Cheers Gee
