DR Motosport Posted March 30, 2005 Posted March 30, 2005 Anyone at Knockhill on Sunday for the Top Marques morning, know how badly damaged the WR1 was. I was on track when the red flag was brought out to stop the session, as I got to the bottom of Duffus Dip the WR1 had been off and covered in mud, but I couldn't see how bad it was. I was told it came back in and put on the space saver, then disappeared home. Just hope it wasn't too bad. Other than that, it was a good day. Weather was crap as usual for knockhill, but good track action. Nothing passed us all day, and I passed everything except Extreme's 450bhp EVO. I could catch it and keep up with it lap after lap but couldn't get past. Fuel was too low and started to get pick-up problems out of the hairpin, so had to use 3rd gear. Not so good. Next time.............maybe. David
wrxmania Posted March 30, 2005 Posted March 30, 2005 A shame to hear about the WR1 - nothing has been posted here about it - everyone's too busy from the Mad March One... Hope it's OK. Hate the idea of the WR1's getting more limited - in spite of folk's digs at them. Brian MLR Thread link to KH day and also link to EVOJKP's video clip

evojkp Posted March 30, 2005 Posted March 30, 2005 I didn't know about the WR1,hope it's not too bad. A lot of the cars gave up about half way through, me included. Dave, I got pax laps in Johns Evo.....mightily impressive machine. Running 450lbs/ft in very wet weather with R888's fitted. Took some bottle. The acceleration is stunning. It'll be good to see how well it goes in the dry
wrxmania Posted March 30, 2005 Posted March 30, 2005 You're a brave man John - the weather looked terrible at times and the tyres will have made it very interesting Good video clip - check out all the photos of the Mad March Run Brian
Gee Wr1 Posted March 30, 2005 Posted March 30, 2005 Just like to say it wasn't me. Hope car is ok & not to much damage There was another on track at the last SIDC day at Knockhill, had a wee chat with him & seemed a good bloke. Gee

Gee Wr1 Posted March 30, 2005 Posted March 30, 2005 << Wasn't me either. Unless the wife ..................OH F--k >> Pmsl How you doing Martin, still enjoying the car?
martinl Posted March 31, 2005 Posted March 31, 2005 the cars just dandy. fitted bucket loads of whiteline gear, steel hoses, those aussie brake discs thingies and a geo set up for the handling, which by the way I would recommend you get it done cos mine was f kin miles out. Ho and bought that titanium back box off jools, what a sound!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When I get home next week I'll be going to knockhill for a one to one drver session. I have missed all the sidc track days and the way my work pattern is looking it dont lthink I'll be home for any, so thought I would go for the instructor session. Hows your shopping trolley doin. Laters, Martin
DR Motosport Posted March 31, 2005 Author Posted March 31, 2005 I don't think it could have been too bad ................ it did drive away home. He had to change the front left to the space saver, so he either had a puncture when out on track going down Duffus Dip - if that happened you would only come to a halt on wet grass / gravel when you hit something solid. Or, he went off at Duffus Dip and filled the rim of the wheel up with gravel, again you would only stop there when you hit something. I would say the driver was about late 40's John, most of the EVO's seemed to be struggling in the wet, probably all on similar A046 tyres. The Toyos on Xtremes were only slightly better. Surprisingly I was on the semi-slick Bridgestone RE-70's, and didn't have any problems. Bloody good tyres in the dry, and now also impressed in the wet. David
evojkp Posted March 31, 2005 Posted March 31, 2005 I know what you mean about stones. I've been spitting them all over the road since Sunday. Eventually got under the car and removed half a hunderweight of drainage peebles I bet you I still get clunking and ammo firing out for days yet. A046's are stunning in the dry, but hopeless in the wet. I've a set of T-1S's lined up for the MO's so hopefully I'll be sorted. You going up on Monday?? 6 til 8pm.

Laters, Martin >> Been busy then! Lol Need to hear it with that backbox, it sounded cool on Jools car. Mines still untouched, only things are Prodrive mudflaps & just got a Blitz Rvit data moniter Funny you mention Geo check it's going to get that done on some fancy new laser system in the garage my Girlfriends brother works in, seems there's only 2 or 3 other places in Scotland with this, but they're really busy with the rally cars at the moment for the Granite City Rally. Instructor day sounds good Graeme
robinh20mrv Posted April 1, 2005 Posted April 1, 2005 hi dave (drm) are you selling those wrc back spoilers yet? mmmmmmmmmm funky!! cheers robin.
DR Motosport Posted April 1, 2005 Author Posted April 1, 2005 No I won't be up at Knockhill on Monday John. A once a month track day fix is all I need. David
evojkp Posted April 2, 2005 Posted April 2, 2005 Monday has been cancelled due to lack of interest!!!! Only 6 cars booked in. I personally think that calling it off is out of order. Advertised trackday, you pay your money and because they won't be making enough profit or any at all they cancel it. Not very good customer relations, although I may just be cheesed off about it.
