jamie_wood Posted November 13, 2004 Posted November 13, 2004 McRae + Subaru=flat out,sideways,110% all the time= The worlds best rally driver=The bollox My opinion The reason I bought a Scooby(x3) The guy is a legend. A mate of mine raced him down in his home town of Lanark. Matey had a nova and colin had a motorcross bike. They ware racing down a wee road and Mcrae passed him on the back wheel of the bike at approx 100mph!! The guy is flat out all the time!! Now thats what I'm talking about
wrxmania Posted November 13, 2004 Posted November 13, 2004 Pretty much agree with you Jamie, McRae drives the way I never would - which makes him a good rally driver in my book !!! Thanks again Jamie - the hose arrived "MERRY CHRISTMAS" - cheers and I will let you know how it goes. Brian

rallye6 Posted November 13, 2004 Posted November 13, 2004 PWRC: McRae on course for title Australia - Subaru - Alister McRae - 13/11/2004 12:15:32 Production World Rally Championship ace Alister McRae is on-track to take both the class win and the 2004 drivers? title on tomorrow?s final leg after ending today with a 1m48s lead over his closest rally and championship rival, Niall McShea. Local driver Dean Herridge is the top Group N driver in his Subaru, but is closely followed by McRae and fellow local runner Chris Atkinson. Third in Group N is PWRC frontrunner Xavier Pons, but the Spaniard has used up all his six nominated rounds this year and is therefore out of the title fight. McShea is sixth in the Group N standings, but second in the points-scoring PWRC race, ahead of fellow Subaru runner Toshihiro Arai. Mitsubishi ace Jani Paasonen has suffered a poor second leg and is now fifth in the PWRC points-scoring rankings and pretty much out of the title fight. On current form, McRae will end the rally with 36 points, while McShea will be on 35 and Paasonen will be on 33. Pons will end the season with 27 points and Arai will be on 26. ?I?m just trying to concentrate on the championship now,? McRae said. ?The local boys can do what they want. We?ve been running yesterday?s tyres so that we can use the new ones tomorrow. My biggest fear is punctures. We?re quite comfortable, though, and the tyres are good.?
Gordon Shek Posted November 14, 2004 Posted November 14, 2004 If Colin McRae hadn't trashed so many Scoobs, he'd still be in the Subaru Rally Team! They just couldn't afford to keep replacing his cars just for him to trash it! It had nothing to do with his wage demands! I wonder if Insurance companies avoid him like a bad smell?
derek_robertson Posted November 14, 2004 Author Posted November 14, 2004 Mr. Shek Sir, Please remember that it was Colin McRae that put Subaru on the map & inspired so many to buy the car. Thankyou Del
zeolite Posted November 14, 2004 Posted November 14, 2004 It is amazing how many go for this McRash myth. McRae's crash record is no worse than other top drivers and in fact Solberg has had a fair few big ones in his time. It is am occupational hazard when you drive at 100%
the squiggle Posted November 14, 2004 Posted November 14, 2004 What about that idiot Hirvonen, how much has he cost in smashes and lost sales Must admit when McRae left the road he did it with style as he was always driving with courage, determination and a gear higher than the pace notes dictated. Rolling the car on the recce for the New Zealand Rally was a classic they had to push the car over the starting ramp and the paint was still wet but in the end he still won Grant
derek_robertson Posted November 14, 2004 Author Posted November 14, 2004 Enough said Del PS. Shame about Alistair
