paulc555 Posted November 12, 2004 Posted November 12, 2004 picked up my sti3 import yesterday... number plate fell of today..think dealer had stuck it on...... need a more permanent fixing any ideas..the fixing holes seem to big for a screw......do i need to get a sticker plate done for the front sill and if so are these legal....anyone advise.... need to get the plate on so i can drive my new toy????? cheers.. looking forward to seeing you all again at the central scotland meet....
wrxmania Posted November 12, 2004 Posted November 12, 2004 Doube sided sticky fixers is the common way - dealers use them. Also the holes may be for the plastic screws used too - they are thicker than normal. Stick on velcro is the other one. Brian
wrxmania Posted November 12, 2004 Posted November 12, 2004 PS Halfrauds stock a variety of fixings for number plates.
john_robertson Posted November 12, 2004 Posted November 12, 2004 Double sided number plate tape, use a decent amount of it and it'll be well stuck remember to clean the back of the new plate and the mount with some white spirit on a rag first though to get rid of any wax/oil/dirt. John.
paulc555 Posted November 12, 2004 Author Posted November 12, 2004 i think the surface area is to small for d/s tape...believe it or not thats what i sell for a living.....but wouldnt rely on this as the surface area for the tape to bond to is minimal..... plastic screws however sound about right.....ah well any excuse to drive the thing over to halfords will do.....thanks guys.... so please with the car otherwise...just need to get some octane booster now...before i give it a good thrashing up round aberfolyle on saturday
jamie_wood Posted November 12, 2004 Posted November 12, 2004 Dicksons of Dunblane do Octane booster if you need it Jamie
colinj Posted November 12, 2004 Posted November 12, 2004 The bolts in the front plate of mine are larger than normal kind you would expect to hold it in, just bang it in the windscreen for now and get some bolts from a dealer
paulc555 Posted November 13, 2004 Author Posted November 13, 2004 hi guys thanks brian...got some plstic screws from halfords and they seem to have done the trick after 300 templates mind you but seem okay now.... jamie...thanks for that will scoot up there today and get some so i can see what this 280bhp is all about.... cheers Paul
