RaymondH Posted November 5, 2004 Posted November 5, 2004 I'm well aware that you can't really compare dynos but I'm just curious to know if Star and Dastek rollers give similar results. I keep reading on Scoobynet that a VF23 turbo is good for 330 bhp (proven on actual runs so presumably at Star as Dastek is new) whereas my car with VF23, APS fmic, GruppeS, APS caik, 550s, Apexi PFC and AVC-R with AndyF map etc etc etc gave me 305 bhp at Dastek (Dalgety Bay). I must admit that I was expecting around 330 and am wondering if the difference is down to the different rollers. Anybody had experience of both?
spooks Posted November 5, 2004 Posted November 5, 2004 Id prolly say that Dastek have the more reliable figures. I can hear everyone gasp after my recent run there Made runs at star and dastek, now my runs at star varied wildly and my dastek runs although down compared to star are pretty much the same. Also the cooling is fantastic at Dastek, giving very close to normal road temps. Not been to star since they moved premises and Im by no means slagging em off but I know of a few people that question the results there. In my experiance what Dastek tell, thats pretty much spot on. spooks Posted November 5, 2004 Posted November 5, 2004 << Sluuuuuurrrrrppppppppppppp >> No not really, kinda wierd that Simon was sold an exhuast that would give his car 30 bhp.............. next run with his exhuast made EXACTLY 30 bhp more. Loads more folks feel that way. Made no pretence that I prefered Dastek, got nowt to do with them gonna map my car maybe.................. Spooks
wrxmania Posted November 5, 2004 Posted November 5, 2004 Maybe?? ECUTEK or UNICHIP??? Think mine is going up next Saturday at the super crack of dawn early doors to be run (before the vauxhall R.R. day ) How's things? Brian

the squiggle Posted November 5, 2004 Posted November 5, 2004 Brian i may join you, if thats ok with you, at Dastek next Sat as im desparate to strap it down again now shes running properly to try and get more power than she gave the last time, which im more than confident she will...............................touch hairy wood Grant
sarahbee Posted November 5, 2004 Posted November 5, 2004 Can someone please give me contact details for Dastek as I would like to put the car on and see what figures it gives.
Carl Davey Posted November 5, 2004 Posted November 5, 2004 Sarah, Gavin Wallace in Bridge Of Don has a Dastek RR and gives discount for SIDC members. I'm going round this morning for my 'after' figure. My car did 259bhp on the Dastek RR in Aberdeen and 261 @ Star six months previously. The only difference was the addition of a backbox for the Dastek run and I suspect the car was also suffering from a little heatsoak. The rest of the results for the SIDC RR Day at Wallce Performance seemed to be spot on and showed the rollers as being calibrated very well indeed.
colinj Posted November 5, 2004 Posted November 5, 2004 I have a standard MY95 with PPP and an air filter and running on Optimax and octane booster got 245.6BHP at Destek 3 weeks ago - seems ok to me as its pretty bang on what it should be!
Robertio Posted November 6, 2004 Posted November 6, 2004 My at the wheels figure at Dastek was almost the same as my fly figure at Star. This was largely down to cooling - I probably lost 20bhp at Dastek due to the cooling being slightly less than on the road, where as at Star I lost a huge number of bhp. On a car with a front mount, or for a NA car the results seem to be fairly close, it is just on cars with dubious cooling setups the extra cooling at Dastek helps a lot.
