took me long enough to find a car I loved (Accord type R) but then had to punt it due to splitting with wife, always wanted a Scooby but couldn't get insurance due to ban but then I got my WRX which is now the longest I've ever kept one car (nearly 4 yrs)

Think i win on the fastest 1st vehicle......Astramax van 150000miles, nicely run in for me. The scoob is fast but nothing can cut through city traffic like an astra van or the motorway, anywhere infact

1st car = Chevette 2300HS.

Caged and road legal!!!!

Hammer on starter motor every time and crashed it twice going to Gala (same day) with no apparent damage.

I'm sure some nutter is still rallying this maniac car!!!face-icon-small-cool.gif

It actually started out as a 1.1 Bonus Grant!! But yeah, i loved RST's when i was younger and tarted mine up to look like one. When i could afford some more insurance i stuck the CVH from an XR2 in there. From memory the only things bar the engine (!!) that weren't as-per RST where the smaller rear brake drums, lack of a sunroof and colour. It even had the full Recaro interior pmsl...

I've had five real (driven every day) cars altogether in five years motoring since i was 17.

Mercury Grey RST with 1400 CVH engine (crashed by gf at the time)

Silver RST Replica (made mostly out of pieces from the above)

Cavalier Turbo 4x4

Fiesta Si 1.6 16v

MY98 Scoob

Also had a few breakers to make some beer money from including XR2, XR3i and XR4x4.

Dougster, I passed my test in one a 2300HS Chevettes. I'd never driven the car before the day of the test. I reckon the engine was far to big and powerful for such a little car.

On the subject of first cars, I reckon I'd have a good chance of having the biggest first car.

One of my workmates (I was in the RAF at the time) brought a 396ci Z28 Camaro back from Belgium (396ci is about 6.5 litres). He got stopped and failed a breathalyser when he came off the ferry. His third offence within 10 years, so he was desperate to sell it. I bought it for a bargain price. I could only afford three months insurance though and quickly sold it on for a massive profit. I then bought a Holbay Hunter, anybody remember them?
