Marky-San Posted September 27, 2004 Posted September 27, 2004 Anyone go? Have to say I wasnt too impressed with the cars on offer indoors. Some were immaculate and proper classics, however there were some that should've been in the car park - there was some storming cars sitting out there! Wee Uno Turbo that was manky - I've had 2 of these and it the owner didnt even wash it - so I wrote my name on it!! X reg Ford Escort estate mk 3 - why? It was hanging together - guff. S reg Ford Escort mk 5 - it had a shiny tailpipe and touring car sunstrip - so heavily modified then ? Escort mk 3 convertible- yellow. The paint job was shocking - the car was no better than the spitfire they rebuilt for the show! Fiesta van with an airbrush piccy - woohoo! Bring the bonnet next time, and leave the van in the car park. Overall cars could only be described as decent, but hardly show material - some were as I said proper show cars, and they made it interesting. Noticed though quite a few recent 'standard' hot hatches - whats the point of that? I could see the same at Arnold Clark. Outside was a bit better, however there were some 'classics' that as my mate said - 'people have bought a banger and brought it straight to the show' - he was looking at 2 old japs with more cracks than a crazy paving design. Other than that, the cheeseburgers were excellent and the pax laps were good. Dont think I'll be going there next year unless they scrutinise some of the entrants. Went round the corner to the 'famous cars' site (not related to the show) - and saw Knight riders 2 cars, james bonds ones, postman pats, batmobile etc... so all was not lost
kennyi Posted September 27, 2004 Posted September 27, 2004 I was there with the 'Standard hot hatch' crowd Managed to get on track on Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday taking out punters for a few laps. Hopefully post a wee clip of the Ferrari 550 overtaking me on the straight. Also managed to persuade Don to let me drive his Nissan 350Z for a few tail happy oversteery laps. Which was nice Agree that there wasnt really that exotica on show, hopefully it can get bigger and better. Incidently Ingliston is quite a fun wee track (apart from the odd pothole) if they were to spend a wee bit of cash on it, it would make a cracking circuit for hiring out to clubs for trackdays.
dave_morgan Posted September 27, 2004 Posted September 27, 2004 Used to be some good racing at Ingliston, not that long ago either. One of my mates from Uni raced a mini out there about 10 years back, and it was always good racing. Not sure why it stopped to be honest - was much more accesible than knockhill for us townies! Ran out of money for track maintenance I guess !?!?
dougster Posted September 27, 2004 Posted September 27, 2004 I don't fancy the run off areas as iirc there are big bloody trees to stop you!!!!
wrxmania Posted September 27, 2004 Posted September 27, 2004 Was gonna go - just too busy. Sort of glad I did not. Brian
kennyi Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 Wee clip of me on track, watch out for the Ferrari 550 overtaking me down the back straight Clicky here
