hannay Posted October 9, 2002 Posted October 9, 2002 I live on the Isle of Man, I have bought an Impreza Sti Type R today. Just came across these forums, and saw all this about an Impreza Isle of Man meeting!! Shame I missed it, looked a great time
heazille Posted October 11, 2002 Posted October 11, 2002 So I am not the only member living on the Island, I hope you get your fuel from my petrol station in Onchan!! Ta Ta Richard XMN555
hannay Posted October 15, 2002 Author Posted October 15, 2002 Corkills?? i can't think of any other!!!
johns Posted October 16, 2002 Posted October 16, 2002 As Richard will no doubt tell you next time you pop in, we had a fantastic time on the Island, and are looking forward to a return visit next year
dooahhdoo Posted October 18, 2002 Posted October 18, 2002 Richard, you know you are not the only member on the Island as we frequently acknowledge each other (You even waved in your type R Civic which totally confused me!!!). I would have loved to have joined in more with the festivities but only managed to make it down to the track day with wife and baby in tow so there was not really much chance of going on the track. I did get a few good shots on video but just missed the P1 lose it properly on the end of the straight (never seen so much smoke!). Hannay. Nice one for getting an STi R. Give me a flash or wave next time you pass me (white STI FMN 267V). I always wave but I am giving up soon as you just get looks of "who the hell is he waving at" over here. It was great fun when SIDC were over here as they always give a good acknowledgement to another Subaru owner and of the couple I met of them they were a really friendly bunch. Hope you make it over here next year again.
hannay Posted October 19, 2002 Author Posted October 19, 2002 will look out for you i'm 571 RMN but my mrs drives it quite a bit so she'll have no idea why you'd be waving at her
heazille Posted November 2, 2002 Posted November 2, 2002 Hey Guys, sorry i have missed you and not replied, but I have been away, Seriously though, I ran a Motor club for 15 years in Devon before i moved to this WONDERFULL ISLAND, and I reckon its about time we sorted some sort of meet over here, there are probably more Scoobys here per square mile than anywhere else in the UK (unless you know different of course!!). So come have a natter with me in Onchan (and fill up of course! & yes it is Corkills, but in the part where you get some friendly service, ie the customer come's first, second, third etc etc, and the scooby rumble will always get down from my office!! ) and maybe we could sort out a regular meeting, belive me we need something over here as the Native Motor Clubs are not that friendly, I am up to Stage Commander here now and have sorted out numerous night events for Silverton Motor Club. Is there room within SIDC for a very small but VERY dedicated little group over here in the land of no national speed limits!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Your replys will find me quicker at prouse@manx.net mainly cos i spend so much time at work. Hey john, have you thought about your photo!!. And i do try not to wave when i am in her car!!, but it is difficult to stop !! Cheers Richard XMN555
Dave K Posted November 4, 2002 Posted November 4, 2002 Hi, I also live on the island and have just bought a white type r (EMN 17R). I bought the car two weeks after the visit , however i did follow the group on saturday/sunday, or should i say got chased off the mountain on the sunday morning . I dont know who was in the silver WRX wagon but he was'nt hanging about. Good I idea with the meet, count me in. Dave. And yes i fill up at Corkills.
hannay Posted November 7, 2002 Author Posted November 7, 2002 I'm sure I spotted you yesterday at the Wessex in your scoobie, Dave K. I was in my Audi TT at the time though
dooahhdoo Posted November 26, 2002 Posted November 26, 2002 List of "friendlies" on the Island. Please add to the list when you get a wave Me White STi FMN267V Richard XMN555 hannay 571RMN Dave K EMN17R There is another white STi and the bloke always gives a friendly wave but he is always going so fast I can never remember his reg
heazille Posted December 2, 2002 Posted December 2, 2002 The other one is probably Steve Colley!!. PS. Hey neil the postman is coming!!
hannay Posted December 2, 2002 Author Posted December 2, 2002 Steve has just bought a 99 Impreza, not sure which model.
hannay Posted December 11, 2002 Author Posted December 11, 2002 << Steve has just bought a 99 Impreza, not sure which model. >> i'm wrong - I saw him yesterday, and he's sporting a newer version of the car he had!
john_baldock Posted January 17, 2003 Posted January 17, 2003 right ,one of you guys needs to become a regional organiser for the IOM . (i suppose IOM can be classed as a region ?) then set up your first meeting at a local venue and go from there. i then can put you into true grip (with contact details) then one of you can write about what you get up to over there . give it some thought and let me know , regards john b social bod
dooahhdoo Posted January 18, 2003 Posted January 18, 2003 << right ,one of you guys needs to become a regional organiser for the IOM >> I agree. We need somebody to arrange a meet here for the friendlies maybe once a month at the weekend? I would put my name down for the job but I am pretty useless at organising things. That side is down to my better half!!! How about a mini track day at Jurby (last time on the karts I snapped off a wheel!), A shandy at a pub somewhere (kid friendly as my 2 year old LOVES Imprezas, he always tells me when there is a white one outside Corkills!). Suggestions? I think it is a good idea.
heazille Posted January 25, 2003 Posted January 25, 2003 White!!! it would be if i washed it a bit more often, and the only reason its been at Corkills is because my Son wrote off margys Honda Civic Type R! But don't worry the new one is on route and i will start confusing you guys again. I just forget i am not in the scooby when i wave!. But on a more serious note, Ok i VOLUNTEER I will be the Manx regional organiser if a couple of other SIDC members propose, second etc etc. You know where to find me or else prouse@manx.net will suffice PS i have just booked to go to Rally Catalunya in October, any other members going, 6 nights Hotel & Car hire (excluding flights) for £159 each seemed a good deal Ta Ta
Dave K Posted January 26, 2003 Posted January 26, 2003 Sorry to hear about the Civic Richard. As I said in the e-mail, I will help in any way possible. I work in IT so digi pics etc will be no problem, plus we can check them onsite with the laptop. Dave .
johns Posted January 27, 2003 Posted January 27, 2003 Richard, I'll happily propose and/or second you as regional organiser Sorry to hear about the Type-R John
john_baldock Posted January 27, 2003 Posted January 27, 2003 WELL DONE THAT MAN!!!!!! . i now need your contact details full name e-mail address telephone numbers send them to johnb@sidc.co.uk and these will go into the next edition of True grip. fell free to give me a call to discuss the possition at any time speak to you soon john b
dooahhdoo Posted January 30, 2003 Posted January 30, 2003 << White!!! it would be if i washed it a bit more often, and the only reason its been at Corkills is because my Son wrote off margys Honda Civic Type R! >> LOL. I was remarking to my better half the other day about the state of my car as I have not washed it for 2 weeks, then we passed Corkills and yours was parked up looking dirtier than mine! I reckon its far too cold at the moment to wash cars! Hope your son was not injured in the smash. Also talking of smashes has anybody seen this site before? It is amazing how many IOM cars there are on there (does that mean we are all bad drivers? Couldn't find any scoobs though take a look Looking forward to our first meet!

Kristan Posted February 12, 2003 Posted February 12, 2003 Hello from a future IOM scoob owner - all I need is for some nice person to buy my FTO and there will be a nice shiny STi swimming it's way from Japan Can't wait!
