Mako Posted September 3, 2004 Posted September 3, 2004 Firstly please don't remove this as it is not a commercial post. Some of you might know me through the meetings in Dundee and from the Subaru Spectacular held at Knockhill over the past 2 years. I am now part of the sales team at Eden Subaru in Cupar. I would just like to say a big hello from the dealership to everyone out there and let the SIDC know that we will be supporting the club fully. I have arranged with our aftersales dept that all sidc members will receive 10% discount on all parts and accessories We will be holding track days and if I can arrange it we will try and have an owners meeting along the same lines as the Subaru Spectacular which I organised previously. Please feel free to come in for a coffee and a blether at anytime. All are welcome. Many thanks for taking the time to read this and I hope to see some of you in the future. Regards Russ Stewart Eden Subaru
wrxmania Posted September 3, 2004 Posted September 3, 2004 Hi Russ, Give us a brief resume of the dealership, the number of trained Subaru service tech's, the attitude of the dealership to modifications etc, UK vs imports etc. 10% SIDC discount of a new 2005 MY STI??!?! All the very best - there is a dealer not a million miles of you to the West which could do with a goo boot up the ar*e to get itself in order - you may push it along a bit. Need to work hard though to break into the after sales market of A F Nobles, which most of us use. Brian

Regards Russ Stewart Eden Subaru >> Hi Russ - Thanks for your post and for the backing towards the club from your dealership. In no way would I see this as a commercial post so I'd say its safe here I'm sure SIDC members/Subaru owners in Scotland will appreciate a dealer with a good friendly interface. Lets hope it can become a two way interface in the future and the local members can use the dealers experience. The discount is a great gesture and one which is good to hear. It would be good if you can get an e-mail or letter sent to the club chairman, Phil Stephens or John Stewart so they can add you to the dealer discount database. Once this is done then they can organise the insertion into the club magazine & I can add you to the dealer discount list on the clubs website. Cheers
wrxmania Posted September 3, 2004 Posted September 3, 2004 Two way interface - now there is something which is missing at the moment Brian
CAZ1562 Posted September 3, 2004 Posted September 3, 2004 I gather u use an unfriendly dealer then Brian ? It all depends who you approach, how you approach them and if they've got any interest in the cars themselves. unless they see you as a statistic in their sales pitch.
wrxmania Posted September 3, 2004 Posted September 3, 2004 Varies from day to day - generally OK but could be better I am sure. I DO NOT use the dealer I purchased my car from.
Mako Posted September 4, 2004 Author Posted September 4, 2004 Thanks for the friendly replies folks. here is a quick resume of the dealership. Eden Subaru. Part of The Walker Partnership.(Fife Mitsubishi) Attitude toward modifications The family who own the dealership are total petrolheads with a TVR Tamora, FQ300MR, S320 Merc and a few others as their own transport. I have worked for a few dealerships and never have I had the pleasure of working for people who are actually interested in their products or their customers. These guys are different. anyone who is involved in "the Dark side" should be fairly familiar with them. having worked for Subaru before I know of the attitudes that can manifest from dealers Imports and mods being the all too common reason for the "can't help you" phrase If we can help then we will. I don't want to go into the subject of "can you service an import?" on the forum but if anyone wants to ask me offline then give me a call at the dealership. Technicians- We have 2 fully trained subaru technicians and 1 apprentice at the moment. One of our Technicians being the head mechanic for a well known Subaru rally team. The guy knows his stuff and unlike some dealerships he also has the knowledge of how to get the best out of a scoob safely. or he can tell you how to get 300bhp (ok ok everyone has 300 ponies nowadays but WRC limits to 300bhp) and 500lbft torque. I have been in the car in question and believe me, I had to change me pants Please feel free to drop in for a cuppa (I'll even make it meself) Regards all Russ ps Derek I will be sending an email and some background to Phil very soon. Thanks for the support.
dougster Posted September 4, 2004 Posted September 4, 2004 Russ can we camp in the showroom next weekend for the airshow? And are there any PS pumps/resvs lying about?
MY94 Posted September 4, 2004 Posted September 4, 2004 Hi Russ, I don't know you,but I know Graham Walker through the classic car club in Edinburgh.(my old man bought a Jag from him as well) Say hi to him and I'm sure to meet u at some time. All the best with the new place :-)
zeolite Posted September 6, 2004 Posted September 6, 2004 Went for a look today and had a chat with the nice chaps in suits. Very new and shiny and indeed friendly. Didn't get a coffe though
Mako Posted September 7, 2004 Author Posted September 7, 2004 Zeolite, thanks for popping in yesterday it was nice to meet you and put a face to the name Sorry about the lack of coffee Next time I will supply enough to keep sleeping beauty awake. Cheers again Russ
Sti-04!! Posted September 7, 2004 Posted September 7, 2004 Hi Russ, Sounds as if we may have got ourselves a decent dealership All the best & if am about i will pop in to have a chat Stephen
scott_coull Posted September 10, 2004 Posted September 10, 2004 Hi, any update on service pricing for the classic shape? spoke to Pete I think he said his name was, he was gonna give me a phone this week with prices but not heard much. Might pop along tomorrow and see whats happening.
Ginto Posted September 16, 2004 Posted September 16, 2004 Nice to talk to guys in a dealership who are real enthusiasts in the cars that they sell and service...! Had my MY04 WRX wagon serviced there yesterday and must say that "If you are looking for a place to get great customer service and one that you can trust to service your car "properly" this is the place. I am a real stickler for ensuring that whoever works on my car can be trusted, and after talking to Russ and Peter, I knew my car was in safe hands. The salesmen not only sell cars, but are really knowledgable about them as well (they actually mechanic for rally teams) not often you see that!! One of the dealership mechanics actually works for a well known rally team who use Carlos Sainz' old WRC car!! Need I say any more...! Thanks guys, I'll see you again soon. Cheers, Ginto.
wrxmania Posted September 16, 2004 Posted September 16, 2004 Great to hear there is another good dealer in the area. Good start guys!!! Brian
