debsp555
Hello everyone. I’ve got an 06 Hawkeye which had cam changed in 2015 at 61k per manufacture instruction. It is now 8 years on but the car has only done 26k since it was changed - so time wise I probably should get it changed but miles wise it wouldn’t need it so I would appreciate advice from you clever lot 😁😁😁 Edited March 21, 2023 by debsp555 Link to comment
ccrien
Belt will probably “look” fine but worth changing based on its age. Based on the low mileage, you should find the tensioner and idler bearings are still ok if they were changed last time so just a belt change - hopefully no need to buy and change the idlers/ tensioner? Its also a good time to drain and change the coolant if it hasnt been done in the meantime. Im planning similar with our cars - 5 years since last cambelt changes, forester will get done this year with only about 30 k miles on this current belt, impreza this year or maybe push to next year, since less than 15-20k on the current belt. conrod
I change belts every 3 years regarless of milage because the rubber belts can deteriorate through age, dont take a chance if it snaps game over for engine. Link to comment
