Newbie Impreza owner

Recommended Posts

Hello,
I'm about to get my first Impreza
An 03 blobeye Sti ppp.

The car has been looked after, and has had one or two further mods.
It currently belongs to my brother who is downsizing his collection, so I jumped at the chance to buy it.
Always wanted one and I'm looking forward to owning it.

I currently own a Mazda RX8 which I have spent a few years modding and improving. It's now time for more power!
Can anyone recommend a good specialist in the Bedfordshire or Surrounding areas, as the cam belt will need replacing this year?

I do a lot of my own repairs, mods and servicing but not cam belts ?.

I've heard of Scoobyworld in Leicester, are they any good or is there an as good/better one nearer to me?
My brother is 200 miles away so he doesn't know of any by me.

Any other tips on owning and running one would be appreciated.

Sorry for all the questions at once but hopefully there are some nice people here who will take the time to answer.
Thanks in advance,
Phil

Hey Duckula67

welcome to SIDC. always nice to see new members joining.

I was in a similar boat not too long ago, I am from Watford and was struggling to find good mechanics in these parts.

I started out with a company called Power Engineering in Uxbridge.

they used to be a fairly big outfit, but have downsized a lot, they now have a small garage out there, and I took my car there to have coilovers, and anti roll bars and exhaust fitted. They seem to know what they are talking about as the owner actually races cars.

The next company I am planning to use, and actually taking my car in this Friday to have the power steering belt replaced is FB Tuning.

The guys name is Richard, and he is based in Bedfordshire close to High Wycombe. I have read only good things about him, he specialises in all things Subaru, and depending on how things go on Friday, will use him as my preferred Scooby Doctor. He is charging me £20 for belt change and £60 for a full diagnostic. So pricing is not that bad as well.

Hope this is helpfull

So I took the car in to have the power steering belt replaced, also a diagnostic check. He also replaced the aircon belt free of charge

Richard at FB tuning is really professional, he also recommended the best place to buy parts in order to cut down on cost.

He works alone, as he feels its best to do everything by himself as its his name on the door at the end of the day. and his aim is to give the best service he can offer.

I still have loads of work that needs doing on my car, and I will definitely be using his services again in the future.

That's great stano. Tvm for the update. I'll be sure to give him a call when the time comes.

Don't actually get the car until March as my bruv is getting it serviced and new drivebelts for me, then I'm doing the brakes (needs new discs) and the timing belt will need replacing soon after.

Can't wait to get it, been on my bucket list for a long time
