mctwistuk Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Well not actually the cars first oil change but the first one I have done without a garage doing it. I did all the hard stuff like get the awkward plastic clips out the under tray and fill up with the good oil lol. Oil was well overdue a change and car is running a bit better I feel. Chris
mugs Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 did mine yesterday and followed the 'fill up the filter first' and foot to the floor to dry crank the engine routine which is something I have never done before but thought i'd give it a go. didn't seem to make a difference to the dry filer then start the car routine but better be safe than sorry I suppose. I couldn't believe how black the oil was after 6k miles so will be doing it more often from now on.
mctwistuk Posted October 27, 2013 Author Posted October 27, 2013 3 track days at kames and trip to the ring and four laps and the oil was black. Also had a bit of a petrol smell. We didn't fill the filter but seemed to be ok. Like you I will be doing this more often
mctwistuk Posted October 27, 2013 Author Posted October 27, 2013 Good news guys . P.S. Maybe, just maybe that'll allow you to drive it a bit quicker now Chris LOL ? Am getting there phil. Was at the physio yesterday for my back and he thinks he can get me driving faster by getting more movement in my legs so I can push the accelerator pedal harder lol
mctwistuk Posted October 27, 2013 Author Posted October 27, 2013 (edited) I've got a disable Aunt who has those shoes.....you know, the ones with the extra thick soles for her right leg. I'll see if I can borrow a set for you for next season!!!!! Cheers phil. You know me. I need all the help I can get? Edited October 27, 2013 by mctwistuk
mctwistuk Posted October 27, 2013 Author Posted October 27, 2013 Oh and meant to say that as usual we discovered something else that needs replaced. Looks like I am needing a new clutch slave cylinder thing.

mctwistuk Posted October 28, 2013 Author Posted October 28, 2013 i opted for the bosch filter but went for 5w40 triple QX. Can't beat the deals that eurocarparts has on these days. chris

ccrien Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 If you are, or know, a Costco member and have one of these warehouses nearby, they do 20 litre drums of Chevron 5w 30 synthetic for just over 40 quid. Worth looking at if you change oil regularly and would be happy with the 5w30.
