scoobywho Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 id like to say i own it completely but it is our car she did help pay for it too. tho i did trade in the hyundai Hairdresser to put towards it. thinking the sooner we can get the house sold and move tp the bit we want. then the scoob can sit on drive saving running costs. shes.near the train station so can get that to work and i can use the micra even tho shes.wanting.to.trade that in for a new car like a kuga or that vauxhall mocha thing. all jeep looking things. so she feels safer and for when babys come. if i am forced to get rid and get something new . it wouldnt stop me coming on here. think id be like the scottish equivalent of matty lol. did try explaining if we get something new or.two new motors then thatd be monthly payments on finance with intrest etc blah blah . but shes.just been.sturborn. I think you need to hide it somewhere then
thebigfelly Posted April 21, 2013 Author Posted April 21, 2013 Trade in a micra for a kuga or a jeep and you are getting hassle about running costs lol! Think there is a hidden agenda here as it looks like her running costs will be more than yours and that can't happen lol. your telling me chris.. she pops into dealer ships on her lunch without me and they give her the shpeel about it being a diesel and not to.expensive and that they can get 40mpg+ im like you do realise thats 18" wheels on it. big breaks etc. you think scoob disks.are exspenive or tyres are. those are bigger so will cost more. but shes like i wont.need that stuff.for a few.years blah blah. think she has realised some.of what i say is.true because.i. saw her looking at dis-astras yesterday on 0% fpr five years. .
thebigfelly Posted April 21, 2013 Author Posted April 21, 2013 (edited) I think you need to hide it somewhere then think if she keeps goin on about running costs il just tell her im getting a bike. cheaper to run. cheaper on parts.insurance etc still got speed. and leave her worrying about me when its wet outside or snowy and that i might not make it back. as she doesnt want me to get one.but ive always fancied a.cruiser to go.about on. unless thats her long term goal/plan .make it.seem like my idea then if i do fail to make it hame one night she gets the life insurance. women eh.. they can be coniving little b..ches Edited April 21, 2013 by thebigfelly
mctwistuk Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 Just remember you need to do the miles in a diesel to keep the fancy Dpf filters and stuff regenerated. Doing the daily 5 mile commute is not good enough these days with a diesel and can do more harm than good. Well that's what I overheard the salesman say in a ford dealership when someone was looking in to changing to a diesel. Just some food for thought
paul555sti Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 Also the diesel is more expensive to buy and the fuel is dearer as well so unless your doing serious mileage it just doesn't add up.
mctwistuk Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 Let her drive it more often sorted True. I never get to drive mine lol.
g1983 Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 True. I never get to drive mine lol. that's cause your too busy on the iPad browsing the Subaru world
thebigfelly Posted April 21, 2013 Author Posted April 21, 2013 Let her drive it more often sorted she crazy with a turbo.. nearly killed me on a roundabout at 100mph
patsy Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 Paul. Just dig your heels in. I had similar girlfriend input years back. Had the wagon a couple years and was told it was too much for a family car etc. Now 7+ years and over double the standard power I still have her and the same girlfriend!! 2 young kids now too. Scooby is now not the main car. I bought her a Quasqui thingy with like 50mpg or over (diesel). Also running a second car for work/labrador abuse, which runs on 100% waste veg oil. So virtually free fuelling for my average of 300 miles a week. But back to your situation, as you say it's also a hobby and what you do in your spare time etc then you will be wasting your time getting rid of it. As you'll end up wanting another one and then find yourself spending cash getting that the way you want it. It's a no-brainer, you've got to keep the car because "it's what you do".

Good to hear fi you ryan. hope all is well squire and you and the family are good. yeah ive been in thia territory before and just fobbed her off but shea a little more adimant this time when she said it. think its just a few things like not movin on with house and gettin it solr etc thats botherin her.and that just added to it. but will take note of all things said here . good to see ur still about ryan. hows the wagon coming along anyway? you finished with it yet or still more to add? did you ever get the wrap done on ur motor? Edited April 21, 2013 by thebigfelly
patsy Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 The car is running nice and family are doing great. Basically finished, few smaller things I would like to do, but no rush. Never did chase the wrap thing up, still rocking duck tape over the holes where the roof rails used to be! Plagued with vandalism last 6 months or so- punctures, dents etc. So a total tidy up and full wrap would be my ideal plan. But even getting the time to wash her just now is hard, never mind the funds!
