The Meat
Hi all. I'm trying to work out how much cash I will need. I currently have a standard 2007 WRX that is itching for some mods. I'm going to go for a Sti TMIC, Walbro fuel pump, panel filter, 100 cel sports cat and an Andy F remap to liven it up a bit. The plan is to get someone to give the car it's 5 year service then fit the bits( Steve Whitson will be my preferred choice) then head off for the remap. I'm looking for a guide price so I know how many pennies to have sat aside before I start buying the parts. Cheers. Martin. Link to comment
wrx kenny
Approximate prices . Topmount £180 Walbro. £80 100 cal. £199 Japspeed (see traders) I have one Andy f. Think he's about £450 now, or trackhound That should see you ok for about 280 horses , more important upgrade is decent brake pads . Kenny Link to comment
arch
Remove the cat in the uppipe and replace it with a standard subaru decat uppipe from a newage STI or classic although the newer the better. Also remove the cat after the down pipe. The other option for your downpipe is a Prodrive sports cat downpipe, this will pass an MOT easily as the only cat in the system and not give any real increase in restriction when compared to a 100 cel cat. I have this on my WRX blob and made 280/280. Link to comment
The Meat
I saw the group buy for the janspeed that's what got me thinking about doing the mods now. Already got a cat back ss exhaust on so want something that will pass an MOT in the downpipe. Brakes will need to happen soon Kenny. It's going to be an expensive month. I'm thinking buy the bits, get SW to do 5 yr service and add the goodies on, AF remap then save for better brakes. Link to comment
wrx kenny
There's a few of us have the Japspeed downpipe does what it says on the tin I've not had any issues with mot's . Just a basic upgrade of your pads to mintex 1144 will see a massive distance in stopping power m8. Let us know how you get on. Kenny Link to comment

spect
I have a 2006 WRX. 1. I spent around £500 on exhaust - decat downpipe, left the 2nd cat in, deresonated centre section and put a ninja2 back box on. 2. I paid £650 for upgrading my front brakes to K sport 8 pots (sold my 4 pots to help finance this) 3. Fitted a walbro pump at £70. 4. 2008 STi TMIC with mods to fit the car was £250 5. K&N Apollo cold air induction was £140 6. Samco induction pipe £100 7. Turbo Technics T36 Hybrid turbo and remap £1300 8. Forge dump valve £115 9 18" wheels to fit the new brakes £400 Result is 360 bhp and 380 lb/ft of torque Am gonna go to Powerstation to have a new geometry setup soon and get rid of the horrible Falken 452 tyres too. arch
There are better options around than the Mintex pads. Some of the new Pagid compounds are very good and not much more expensive. Give Alyn at AS Performance a ring and see whats available and compare costs. Link to comment
thefastone
I'm giving the Orange Stuff a try, got them sitting in the Garage ready to go in with the new rotors, so see how that does... Link to comment
john_mchutchison
Ignore all the above and get an STI, the difference is worth the few extra bobs IMHO. Link to comment
lewisscoob
+1 to hutch. Why spend money shortening the life of a car when you can buy the car you are looking for in standard form. It will be cheaper to insure if you offset it against declaring all your discussed mods. Link to comment
The Meat
I would of bought an STI if I had the cash but could only afford the WRX. Wanted the newest I could get for my money. I've had it a year now so want to liven it up a bit so modding is the way forward. I don't intend on going for huge power gains but up to the 280ish will do. Link to comment
lewisscoob
Fair enough chief, we've all been there! All the best with the mods and let us know how you get on. Link to comment
