Tearz Posted May 2, 2004 Posted May 2, 2004 Luckily not myself but I saw it happen.. Was having a play with a silver WRX yesterday afternoon. I passed a couple of cars up Richmond Hill, the WRX got me aswell (was quick!!) as it was a nice day I had my window fully down. As he passed me there was a massive *BANG* and he coasted to a stop round the top of the bend. I pulled over to give the guy a hand - very lumpy idle, kept cutting out. There was a breather pipe had come off and a lot of oil splattered around the engine - he couldn't drive it away :-( We had to leave the car there but I gave the chap a lift home + gave him Paul's number. Anyone that posts on here? didn't actually get his name but he was only 20, and the car started life as a GL!! Any ideas what it may have been? The fact that it blew when he hit the limiter in 3rd wouldn't have helped tihngs
Boxer23 Posted May 2, 2004 Posted May 2, 2004 I saw the silver car stranded at the top of Richmond Hill too. What was he doing in 3rd at the top of Richmond???? Was his car mapped for UK fuel or was he was using octane booster? I think if you're pushing an import into the rev limit you've got to expect chocolate engine syndrome.
dooahhdoo Posted May 2, 2004 Posted May 2, 2004 Ouch Agree with Boxer23 though, he should have been in at least fourth gear hitting 110 round that top corner Did it have black and silver plates beginning with GMN?
CustomScoobyIOM Posted May 3, 2004 Posted May 3, 2004 Bugger me. And Joel, dont scare me like that again, you are as bad as Neil Joel ring ya later mate too. Got a toy for you
Tearz Posted May 3, 2004 Author Posted May 3, 2004 To be honest he didn't seem overly clued up on the car, guessing he may have been running too low octane fuel.. Nick yeah thats the car.. when he was a way behind me i thought it may have been neil or wez but it was a different face in the mirror I'm guessing the car may be down with paul by now, will have to pop past later and see if its outside!
