Guys, for some reason i need 4 x new tyres :rolleyes: so looking for options;

Haykeye STI, currently got Eagle NCTs on at the moment but would like to try somnething different.

Not Toyo proxes or eagles again but something different.

Do the occasional track day and run but not a daily runner so maybe that helps a bit.

Thanks in advanve.

I've got Falken FK452's on the blob and the Litchfield. Couldn't fault them on the fling this weekend good in wet or dry conditions. There can be a bit more road noise than some other tyres but in a scoob you barely notice it over the stereo

If i notice road noise from tyres in my car theres something far wrong with them LOL

Baz, was trying to remember the ones we spoke about at the ring so might go down that road, whos doin the best deals these days anybody know ?

Michelin Pilot Sports Davie

:iagree:

Davie don't even waste your time with anything else m8, Pilot sports are like black glue for the road!

You will maybe pay a bit more but for the grip in both dry & wet it's a no brainer.

Is your car quite noisy inside then Davie? Sounds quiet outside :P

I'm pretty sure Costco are unbeatable for Mich tyres, especially when they do four for three etc! And you can then go and buy catering sized packs of shit you don't need whilst they fit them :)

Funnily enough.. Just been having a look around underneith the scoob to asses any damage, and noticed the front left on mine is worn significantly more than the rest. :brickwall:

Not sure about reccomendations.. I'm keen to give the new Toyo T1-Sports a shot, don't know anyone who's tried them on a scoob. Many put off by expereinces with previous options. The T1-Sports (not to be confused with the older T1-S) should be better than it's predecessors but admitedly probably not quite up to the full grip levels of premium brands. My brother seems to swear by Pirelli's on his RB320. He was a fan of the corsa's but thei've been discontinued now. Strange, Pirelli seems to ba a manufacturer that doesn't get mentioned on here for some reason..

Toyo's have pish sidewalls. Far too much give in them leaves the car feeling a bit numb and like it doesn't want to turn.

It's the good old thing..... how much do you want to spend!

my vote is for Michelin Pilot Super Sports. I had them on at the ring and there, back and another 5-600 miles when I was home again I lost 2mm from the fronts and 1mm from the rears.

They stick like sh1t to a blanket and have a 300 ware rating

Costco are doing Michel pilot sport 3`s at a right good price. 20% off when you all buy 4 from may/June.

nitrogen filled.

I have Falken 452s and they are truly awful. They are 225/40/18 and tramline like bugbery and are really noisy. Grip is ok. Wish I had stayed with Toyo T1Rs imho.

i rate falkens right up there with godspeed brakes....

to be honest last time i had pirellis i didnt think they were much better, have been really impressed with the uniroyal rainsport 2's on the s3, seemed to cope well at the weekend :)

the pilot sports did feel amazing on Dels hatch at the ring though, itl be them or eagle assymetrics going on mine next

Trouble is the tyres will handle differently for the way you drive, the geometry of your car, the road conditions, the weight of the car etc etc etc, so a bit like insurance what is good for one driver may not be the same for another. I recently upgraded my brakes to KSport 8 pots and the calipers were very close to the rims of my 17" wheels which had new T1Rs on them. Many folks on here recommended the Falken 452s so when I bought the new 18" wheels I put the Falkens on - now wish I had not. However there is no saying that the Toyos would be any better with the same profile 40% as opposed to 45%. Even the extra 10mm width of the tyre might be the difference. I do know that the OEM Bridgestone RE050 were awful at tramlining on my car but the Toyos did not tramline. The Avon ZV5s I also tried were very bad with no grip in wet conditions. Trouble is you just will not know till you put them on and try them - then it is too late unless you are rich enough to be abke to replace them again.

Aye, but who got theirs on 3 wheels...?

+1 for the Uniroyal Rainsport 2s!!!

...but then if it's occasional/ track use, Michelins prolly the better option. I think our man's made up his mind anyways...

"Road noise" indeed... Hooligan! :smiley-taunt014:

I think the weekend should prove beyond all doubt that the barge 'hatch' is awful in the suspension department!

Yours rolling about as if on the North Sea in a force 10 gale and Del bouncing up from Applecross like tigger after a tube of blue smarties :P
