maweeboy Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 Well thanks to my mate the car is off the road, his car was in the garage so asked if he could take mine over to the shops, he had drove it before so thought why not after 15min I get a call from my mate saying he has spun the car at a roundabout thinking he was taking the pee I laughed and hung up, then 25min later I look out the window and see an rac truck pull into my street with my car looking rather sorry for its self on the back, missing a front bumper covered in dirt, on further inspection the rac guy tells me the car has no brakes as when it spun large stones have hit the brake lines causing them to crack so now my mate is having to delve into his wedding fund to get the car repaired.
g1983 Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 (edited) Sorry to hear that mate, thats a bummer. How long till its back to normal? Edited April 23, 2012 by g1983
maweeboy Posted April 23, 2012 Author Posted April 23, 2012 Not sure its getting picked up today to get checked over for any other damage
Badgerboy Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 Lesson learned then? Thats pretty cr@p and dont feel bad about taking his wedding funds!
johnmacdonald Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 Very sorry to hear that. Must admit, apart from the Mrs, nobody has ever driven any of our Imprezas over the last 15 years. Not even my twice Caterham championship winning son-in-law! They are just to easy to drive very fast and when something nasty happens, it's often too late...
maweeboy Posted April 23, 2012 Author Posted April 23, 2012 Aye well that's it once its fixed the car will only be driven by me least its getting sorted
marko72 Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 hope it gets sorted, its a nice classic you have.
maweeboy Posted April 23, 2012 Author Posted April 23, 2012 Cheers Marko its def getting sorted just need to see how long it takes
lewisscoob Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 It doesnt sound like you've been lucky but you have. Some time ago there was similar story on the forums where some boy's mate had taken his scoob out and totalled it. Then he tried to avoid paying anything...
maweeboy Posted April 23, 2012 Author Posted April 23, 2012 This guy is a really good mate and he has already bought the bumper and splitter and his dad is a mechanic so he is picking it up today to have a look so fingers crossed all is ok underneath
maweeboy Posted April 26, 2012 Author Posted April 26, 2012 It's back but still waiting on the bumper and splitter the mechanic said the drivers side braided hose was cross threaded onto the pipe and its possible the splitter caught it and possibly pulled it off or helped it off resulting in no brakes whether this is all true god knows will need to get someone I trust to check it all
wrx kenny Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Hope you get it sorted pronto , it's so so easy to loose these cars when your not used to the power or awd , best of luck m8. Kenny

maweeboy Posted April 26, 2012 Author Posted April 26, 2012 I am going to get in touch with Craig I think and ask him to take all the other braided hoses off and get them replaced just incase they are the same don't want to chance it especially with kids in the car. Saying that I had it out today and it was great to drive it even tho its only been since Saturday lol
