karps Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 Like an idiot i have gone and lost my locking wheel nut key now that i seriously need to change my brake pads. Anyone got any idea how much a new key is gonna set me back from Subaru? or is it easier to pay someone to bust them off and get new ones? Any help appreciated so i can get these back pads changed smartish Noel
badbaz Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 Get a replacement if you can, cheaper and less risk of damaged alloy removing old ones.
StrikE Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 I drove off with mine still on the wheel once, a clever man removed them for me but even with his diligence a few scratches where left on the wheels. Wasn't much of a problem as they were rough wheels so all good. If they are the original wheels Noel contact Subaru as they may be able to source the replacement, it will cost you a bit but so will getting them off without damaging a wheel plus the locking nuts have to be replaced again. Good luck
johnmacdonald Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 We all do it (once!). Having swopped to new PFF7s, I took off with the locking key still attached. Subaru dealer managed to supply replacement next day. Can't recall the cost, but it certainly wasn't hugely expensive.
karps Posted February 11, 2012 Author Posted February 11, 2012 thanks guys, i do have the code for the key so will give stealers a phone on monday, Davie cheers for the offer but chances of yours being the same as mine would probably be the same as me winning the lottery tonight Noel
terzo neil Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 why not try his, still got the locker code for mines years ago i bought locking nuts, and found out by chance my mates dads had the same tyre and exactly same code on his locking nuts
