wrx kenny Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 After the highland fling i have noticed my windscreen is heavily speckled , the vision when it is sunny is appauling what can i use to clear it and make it clear again , i presume its due to the amount of fine gravel being thrown up and hitting my windscreen i need to get this sorted before we head to germany thanks kenny
davey l wrx Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 Not much you can do to be honest. I don't think there's anything out there to fix the problem, I cartainly haven't seen anything. The only way round it is a new windscreen i'd say. Mine's the same after the fling and with the high quality of the roads up here. It is weird how they can fix a crack in the screen but not the nicks and stone marks but i suppose it would be a nightmare trying to polish it up!
scouk Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 I've got the same on mine, been like that since I bought the car 4 years ago.. In low level sinlight it's liek looking through shattered glass just about... There's not really any way round it other than getting replaced.. I'm always one for wavign the safety card, but I've heard too many peopel get winscreens replaced and for them to be much more brittle than the one before or not have them installed proeprly. A guy at work has had 3 windscreens in 12 months because they kept chipping badly and needed replacing.. Ive had all shapes and sizes bounce of mine and it's not broken yet!.. So I've stuck with it, until it cracks or something.. I just drop the speed right down when it feels an issue low angle light is a issue regardless
scooby222 Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 i had the same problem before the mcrae gathering Kenny it may be possible to get the right polish and pad and carefully machine polish it but id say the only thing to do is phone your insurance company and tell them about the big spreading crack on your screen.......
Gumball Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 Pay the £75 for a new windscreen and pretend its a mod. I did it recently and love the new shiny clear view
amccan10 Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 The original windscreen on my classic cracked a few months ago so I had to get a new one fitted. Its amazing the difference, perfectly clear and clean. Also paid a little more and picked up a heated screen. roll on winter
