wrx kenny Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 I need to upgrade my discs and pads , was in initialy going to go with the god speed set up but i am hearing enough stories about warped discs coming from them that i am now pretty much put of .Been doing a bit of reading on various set ups , i would like the performance friction set up but at the moment thats not likely , so read a few articles on the black diamond brakes and pads ,max power seem to highly rate them along with a few other big companies . Question whats peoples thoughts on black diamond stuff , or just wait save more pennies and buy pf kit eventualy kenny
Ryan@Indigo-GT Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 I haven't used Black Diamond for years and that wasn't a turbo a car so I couldn't really comment, I'm not personally familiar with anyone running them currently but I can speak highly of Performance Friction, from experience they're not at Carbotech's level, but then neither are their prices! They're a really good set up a represent decent value for money, my advice, hold onto your money for the time being an avoid any potential disappointment.
marko72 Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 When looking around for an Impreza the second bugeye I went to look at had the Black Diamond set up, otherwise the car was standard. I recall it stopping well, but I didnt get to drive it myself nor did we get to warp speed either. Seemed fine though. I didnt go for that one as its price was a bit high and it was silver which was not my preferred choice.
scouk Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 I used black diemond discs and pads on teh front a couple years ago.. (still usign the discs) They are not the best money can buy, but they are better than the standard configuration.. Brake dust is low, only real comments I woudl ahve is that the discs/and pads are a littel soft and perhaps wear out a little quicker than others, but it's not a serious concern.. As I say, I'm still using the discs on teh front but got them matched up with Mintex 1155 pads.. It is a case of you get what you pay for.. You can spend much more than get much better braking, but if the blackdiamons are in your current pricing budget then should be safe enough..
StrikE Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 (edited) PF disc & pads Kenny are the gold dogs nuts if i am honest, recommended by Barry & correct as ever Edited June 12, 2011 by badbaz misguided
scoobywho Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 Black diamond are extremely good. But very expensive I hear Auto Image are an agent. I used them on my Skyline and they lasted 38000 miles without warping and it was always hard driving
