Stealers in Aberdeen

Just a quickie, as I've just found out myself, it would appear that you can no longer get parts from Town and County any more, I've just got off the phone from them, as I was trying to order gaskets for my exhaust, and the guy was telling me that they are not allowed to order from Subaru any more.

So the alternatives now are Lawrence of Kemnay out at Inverurie, or you might be able to order from John R Weirs, though I've not phoned them, so I don't know of this is the case or not...

I also asked at Lawrence of Kemnay about the SIDC discount, and it appears that they don't do it at the moment, as they are still waiting to be approved by Subaru, which he says should happen possibly in July. I imagine this is when the discount will start...?

Anyway, just thought that I give anyone who's interested the heads up. :)

Cheers for the info!

If you can, keep us posted on the status from Lawrence of Kemnay. Handy to know there woudl be a dealer this side of aberdeen.. Makes it easier to get to than Beauly  (although Beauly is a better run out :driving: )

FYI - Import Car Parts do official gaskets for relative cheapness Linky

True.. but sadly a round trip to there would cost me a tank of fuel :o

I'm located pretty much slap bang in the middle between Beauly and Inverurie.. So got more choice now.. Also handy if I need cleaning stuff with Polished Bliss not too far from Inverurue

been through to T&C a couple of times and despite the good service I've got from them in the past it can be a bit of a pain in the ass getting to the other side of ABZ at the wrong time of day..

Such a shame the dealer in Forres was demolished and turned into a Lidl :brickwall:

Could be that they were still learning the ropes but in my experience L of K are about as much use as a chocolate ashtray.

:iagree: It took my storeman at work about a week to try & get hold of someone there & when he finally did they didn't have the parts in stock, it was only a set of wiper blades for my hatch! :brickwall:

L of K did my new rear bumper and diffuser on insurance and did a fair job. The parts boy seemed a bit of a space cadet though, think i knew more about available optional extras than he did, and they never actually did order or fit the stainless rear bumper cover i asked them to on top of my insurance work. Will prob put my car there for my next service, but may try autoecosse. F**ked if i'm using almost 2 tanks of petrol like the last time i did a 6am run to Ian Grieves, sport # mode and silly speed haha

Yes - Subaru actually gave them (Reekie IIRC?!) an ultimatim.....move to Inverness or have the dealership revoked. One of the more memorable drives when i was young....taking a run out with my dad when he picked up his 1st turbo.

Ah, spot on Brian, ill bear that in mind. Ta!

I do think its ridiculous that they have moved the franchise out of town like that though...

I always ignored autoecosse cos their cars were well pricey, so I thought any servicing etc would be the same.

Are they good for picking up parts - any better than gettin off net say?

I tend to get services done in Perth, now usually with RAmotorsport, a long trip from Aberdeen but I have a disabled mum in a home there.

I've had services done at Clark Motorsport at Kintore and they seemed OK, nice bunch of guys and they do a discount for scottish scoobies and aberdeen scoobies, although they didn't change the clutch fluid or clean the air filter which was a bit shoddy. They did a good job of upgrading and changing my brakes - but I didn't think at the time to ask to see/keep my original discs.

Why would you want a proper dealer to do a service unless you had full subaru history before?

Lawrence of Kemnay, I wasn't too happy with, I had them look at a mondeo before, well I took it up waited half an hour for them to tell me they wouldn't touch it and to take it back to Arnold Clark - that despite booking with them (and telling them) it was for a second opinion.

I looked at the new sti up there - to be fair the guy let me nosey at it, despite I was in my beat-up vectra at time, but guy wasn't happy I was critical of the car, comparing it to the hawkeye. Same crap amount of room inside as the hatch and the boot is restricted too. I did sell them my first standard hawkeye sti though and I got what I wanted, but they sold it for £3000 more (what I told the guy he'd get for it) within a week.

I have heard other stories about L of K not beeing good too.
