edmondo Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Its that time where I am getting membership reminders so I have decided that its time for me to go as we Jacqui , NeilG and I started SWS in 2005 and within a year it was usurped so when Jacqui and I moved to Swindon in 2006 we started a group again here which we ended up making a lot of good friends but since Jacqui quit in June 2010 cos of the politics and some very nasty E-Mails from the upper eschelon on here she went and then the meets in Swindon were then poorly attended last Summer plus me getting a Job working nights in September last year meets stopped. so I am hereby stepping down as an R.O for Wiltshire and I am not renewing my membership to SIDC nor am I moving to another Forum. S any from the old school can find me accasionally frequenting on Facebook or those with my E-Mail / phone can call. SIDC its been an "interesting" 6 years. Cheers Edmondo ( Eddie )
Bailey73 Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 Sorry to hear this... I was just getting my ass into gear to get back into the SW Scooby scene. You both know where we are so pop over anytime.. I will make sure there is a cold one in the fridge
broxi Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 I hope you will reconsider Ed. This is all water under a very Old Bridge, I would like to see you take a more mature aproach to this and consider it a good thing. SWS is coming home to it's roots, if you cannot accept it and put it behind you like Me and many others have, then i guess you do need to move on but this is your choice, you have the right to make your choice how you see fit. Personally I feel it's not a mature choice and I genuinely ask you to reconsider. Derek
Terry Butcher Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 It would be good if past politics could be forgotten. I like to go to the meets and see the cars all together. If I do not like someone I just stay away from them. That way we get a good turn out and renew old friendships. Recently around here I have gone to three meets and the same cars go to all of them and that is not just SIDC but also SSR, SWS, RIP, FFF, SN etc etc. Who cares as long as we get the cars together and we get old friendships renewed and new ones forged. Come back everyone - please! Tel
rae_sti Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 well i guess that kills off s/west region altogether .sorry to hear you going ed ,its been good times even if i didnt come to as many meets ,was always a good laugh.im sure your witty humour will be missed by all. you know where to find me if im at a show you to bailey sure i'll bump into you at some show with your lense out :icon_salut:
phil r Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Behind the scenes there are people are putting a lot of ideas together for the southwest region to bring the scooby scene on again in this region after the southwest meet we had on the 27th it was very positive with over 30 scoobs turning up which was great for everyone and it was really important to jamie and myself who organised this meet and will be taking on the roll on this forum for southwest scoobies , Ihave been to several other mmets in the past and felt really isolated as I didn't know any one so we tried to get everyone together at the meet , even talked to adrian who runs torbay scooby cruise so we have each others phone numbers to talk about future joint meets ect , we all have the same interest at the end of the day and it would be great if every one comes into the new times with a positive and friendly attitude , its the way forward for all of us cheers phil
j wrx tonkins Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 me and phil are gonna try are best to keep south west region goin as it would be a shame to see it go alltogether, it just seems to me that people really cant be botherd with it any more and i hope this is not the case and we would really appriciate everybodys support cheers jamie
gaunty Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Ed you will be missed mate i no longer sit up till silly oclock posting getting more and more drunk getting abuse and i will miss that you sir are a true legend when it comes to talking rubbish at 2 in the morning after one to many strongbows. You made it a really good laugh. Me and Mrs Gaunty wish you all the best on what ever you do
jd Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Sad to see you finally go Ed. I disagree with you Rae about the end of the region. The region has been very slow (almost dead for a while now), but recently there has been new blood injected (albeit via SWS) and there is hope yet. With SWS returning home to its roots, lets look to the future and not dwell on the past.
andy Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Good to see the positive posts in here I hope you can put past differences behind you and continue onwards and upwards.
stum450n Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Good to see the positive posts in here I hope you can put past differences behind you and continue onwards and upwards. Seconded - keep it going folks, there's a real sense of positivity in the air at the moment and that's REALLY good to see!

There is alot of hard work to do and the jap scene isn't as it was afew years back alot of forums have declined but there is a still a lot of people still in love with the subaru badge and you could see that by our last meet its going to be hard work building it back up again but there are a few of us on here that are determined and evertyone has to be positive and not negative and be all together to make it work ,I know jay and myself are two people who are going to try our best

Yes Rae, a few years ago................things do change. SWS has not been run by the same team that were in place for some time now. There is no reason why the current SWS members cannot be welcomed into the SIDC fold (remember that Jaqs & Ed were part of the breakaway group originally), are we not here because of our love for the cars? It will be difficult for Jay and Phil to replicate what Jaqs & Ed (were they the only Regional Organisers?) managed to do, but surely those who are committed should be given a chance. Dont write off the region because of the past, time to move on.
elowarr Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 I joind SWS in 2005 and have been a member since through good times and troubled times, now that SWS has merged into SIDC once again I will continue. I thought those days of sour grapes and bickering were over, it was not plesant for anyone and I should hate to see those days return/

It is a new start m8. Lets look to the future - we can shape that - but we cannot re-shape the past. There were good times and bad ones for some I am sure. I am here because of my car. If I do not like someone then I will stay away from them but not the meet (and that does not mean that if I do not talk to you at any particular meet that I do not like you - ooer digging a big hole here eh?). I am sure that we can all manage to just stay away from someone that has upset us. We do it in everyday life so why not here? I am feeling really positive again now. I have attended 3 meets in a month with around 30 cars at each - really nice! And there is enthusiasm from the organisers and who is to say that they cannot makes as good a job of it as others have in the past? Hear the roar of the mighty flat four!!
phil r Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 I spoke to adrian who organises torbay scooby cruise and we took each others numbers as we will meet up togethet in future meets ect a positive move for south west scoobies and the torbay lads as they supported us at our meet a few weeks back thats the sort of direction we should all be heading , me and jay really hope so any way
scooby_ger Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Top bloke Ed. Haven't known you or Jacqui that long really but always made welcome. I for one am not renewing my membership here because after 2 years I can't see any tangible benefits. And that's my personal opinion not a dig at the SIDC. The one thing I looked forward to was True Grip falling through the letterbox. Its just not the same having a dump with a laptop perched on your lap!! LOL!! Will keep in touch via FB. PS, my scoob is nearly roadworthy again. New turbo, serviced and just waiting for CV boots and Whiteline droplinks to arrive then its of to Mr McCormacks for an MOT!!! Then funds allowing off to Bob Rawle for a remap. Stay safe people and good luck to the people trying to revive the SW area.
