scooby222 Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 due to an opportunity thatss arisen im asking for opinions from the floor on how to spend a set amount of cash - option 1- finally finish my blobeye with full monty big turbo 400 odd hp 2- buy a classic for dedicated track use 3- i cant handle what ive got already so splash out on a hot tub and sidc summer bbqks at mine
ciaranrb5 Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Get yourself a classic mate it's the way ahead you never see any newages winning time attack do yah? Seriously though it depends what you want to use it for. Mine is being built as a track car mainly but being kept road legal for the benefit of going on runs and highland flings
05WRX Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Buy some new alloys and give me yours cos they look the buisiness.
Wee Jock Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Option 1 m8 & Option 3 just let me know the time for the BBQ! Doing option 1 myself for the Hawk @ the end of the month!
paul555sti Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Option one! If you buy a classic you will only end up spending loads on it so finish the blob first!
StrikE Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Buy a classic you fannie.......... Hatches are for people like me You will NOT be disappointed with a proper classic scooby
lewisscoob Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 I guess its heavily budget dependant. I did hear of a VERY tidy STI TYPE R go for close to £3000 the other day... If you are going for a proper track car - it aint cheap just ask our friend Ciaran. Option 1 is probably the cheapest, less hassle problem. Going for 400hp aint difficult on the newages, probably just swap the tubby. Also, for every bit you take off the newage, there is a market for it on resale... and so saving you more money. Suddenly scared of inadequacy on the fling are we?
subarucraig Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 I think you should finish what you started you could always buy a classic later if you wern't happywith option 1 at least you'd tried
Midnight21 Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Suddenly scared of inadequacy on the fling are we? Its ok you can "hang on" at the back with me lol and Option 1,2 & 3
G.Mac Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 (edited) Option 1 (I wonder where one of them 400+ bhp turbos might be sitting along with full exhaust, up pipe and 800cc injectors ) Graeme Edited February 8, 2011 by G.Mac
scooby222 Posted February 8, 2011 Author Posted February 8, 2011 Buy some new alloys and give me yours cos they look the buisiness. nice try but they wont fit yours 100pcd boy im surprised , you lot arent as shallow as you seem - i was expecting option 3 from everyone..... option 1 makes the most sense but when i started adding up the turbo, injectors mapping etc i realised i could have a reasonable classic for the same money and keep the blob for everyday madness.... Barry what else did you change with your turbo? injectors, fpr? drop me a goat if you want o and option 3 IS happening at some point this year if i can figure out where to put it so i can still squeeze in the bouncy castle.....
lewisscoob Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 I would seriously doubt you being able to buy a "reasonable" classic and being able to insure, tax and fuel it for the price of a turbo, injectors, remap...
bobbyc Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 (edited) Get the blob finished & stop fannying around, i'll let you have the RA as a base car for your classic project sometime in the future, I won't be keeping it forever lol & roll on the barbie Edited February 9, 2011 by bobbyc

I have a quote for the work to be done that you (we) are looking at and its just over £2k, you dont need to change your injectors (Money saved already)
dan_jess Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Sell your car, buy an already sorted classic, loads of them around. Buy a hot tub to calm down in after youve scared yourself shitless.
sti pretender Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 I'll get my trunks looked out. A classic track car eats money, you either break something or want is to handle better or go faster. I'd go for Option 1.
badbaz Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Dave, see my mod thread for info - I can't remember what I did!!
ciaranrb5 Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 emmmmm the poll is a fix option 1 already has 1000001 votes
Wee Jock Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 I have a quote for the work to be done that you (we) are looking at and its just over £2k, you dont need to change your injectors (Money saved already) Guess I was wrong! http://www.andyforrestperformance.co.uk/58932.html
scooby222 Posted February 9, 2011 Author Posted February 9, 2011 depends on the turbo Lewis, md 321 or equivalent 1400-1700, injectors 300, fpr, remap, fitting - i reckon 2500 - 3k and im sure you said you heard of a type r for that sort of cash.... yea Paul when i had mine mapped Andy Forrest said that was the injectors pretty much maxed out i think youve the solution there Bobby - just you hold onto it for another 18 months and il give you a list of mods for you to do in that time and it would appear that the polls been nobbled in favour of hatches, wonder how that happened.....
