Actually, having looked at the grey effort on an LCD monitor, it was probably a bit on the light side...

Somewhere between the black and grey above would be nice. But hey - it's your motor ;)

No worries, I appreciate the effort. Get the gold wheels powder coated at the ned of the month, have a wee while to decide!

What's the story with your silver alloys, Jock - do you have a set of gold STI wheels and a set of silver Spec D wheels?

Must admit I never used to think I was a "gold alloys" sort of person, but I do think they go very well with a met grey newage... I think it's because the grey and the gold are both 'metal' colours.

The car came with the gold as standard, (if you have a wife) having the wheels kerbed onec or twice and needing new tyres I started to look for a set of winter wheels and found these: 4th down

I now have a set of kerbed gold wheels, either have them re done gold or black.........black is looking good!

Wheels in to be powder coated today gloss black! Pictures to follow!

doesnt powder coating the alloys weaken the alloys themselves because you have to heat them up so high for the powder to stick ....

The powder is "stuck" on electrostaticly(not a word I know) and is then "baked" to cure the paint at about 200oC for usually 8 minutes (like a chicago town pizza). Sometimes they will pre heat the wheel to get a more uniform finish, that said this can lead to major runs in the paint due to excessive powder.

Feck..... Log that one in the memory banks then!

When did you spot the damage, that could have been decidedly risky if the wheel let go!
